According to a team member I spoke to it was not their wish but a decision of the RIAT display organisers. Many punters were still trying get in at this stage and probably didn't get the view they wanted.
Thankyou, there were still many thousands of visitors still trying to get in, stuck in traffic etc, so to put one of the main draws so early was a big disappointment to many. A shame really

The Global Hawk was a mock up
Why would they need one at Fairford I wonder ? Will they be based there in the future as are the 'other' such aircraft ?

Global Hawk mock-up probably there to show off to visiting Brass,
rather than to 'ordinary punters'....

SpringHeeledJack,
The Global Hawk would have been the mock-up that was on static at the RAF Waddington Airshow. At Waddington it was mocked up to represent a US Navy MQ-4C Triton

Global Hawk mock-ups have been a feature at RIAT for a number of years.

Thankyou TEEEJ, as ever a comprehensive answer from you! Any idea why it's still at Fairford and not parted out/shipped out/stripped out ?

No problem, SHJ.

I have no idea? I suppose it will eventually get dismantled and sent to Mildenhall? Or will it?
