Singapore A380 Problems ?
Hi - just thought you guys/girls may be interested in this . My friend was on a singapore airlines Flight this morning A380 and this is what he put on his facebook page and he isnt the type to make things up either . He is a professional man . I asked him how he knew what was wrong and he said another passenger had overheard the 1st officer having a conversation with the number 1 stewardess ? and that on landing another passenger who knew someone working at Atc had confirmed that this is what they had also been told ? This is after all a Rumour Network so im posting in case anyone is interested in whats happened . Obviously i am not a professional pilot but have from the threads on here noticed some issues with the A380 . If i hear from my friend again will let you know .
Oh well 2 hours into the flight there was a large jolt which knocked out the navigation system and auto pilot . 5 hours spent flying around dumping fuel followed by a very bumpy landing . Waiting for another plane now !

Maybe SQ3J8 ?
Just trying to contact him now . They might have got on another flight already not sure .I know he was eventually flying into heathrow and earlier on he put on his facebook page that he was at changi airport Singapore but i got a feeling its this flight . Just got this info off heathrows arrivals board .

Aircraft has definatly had problems but what exactly ?
Think there might just be some truth in this tho Guys ...as it looks like people are being asked to contact the Airline to find out exactly whatis going on about getting people home .

A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration 9V-SKQ performing flight SQ-318 from Singapore (Singapore) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was enroute near the Andaman Islands about three hours into the flight when the crew decided to return to Singapore due to problems with the navigation systems and autopilot. The crew dumped fuel on their way back to Singapore. The aircraft landed safely back in Singapore about 6 hours after departure.
The flight is now estimated to depart Singapore with a delay of 11 hours.
Passengers reported the crew wasn't very clear in their announcements, they understood technical problems with the navigation systems that also knocked the autopilot off.

I think the A380 might be an aircraft to pass on for a few years..
until they iron out the various teething troubles.
My Mum had an experience at Singapore when hers went technical. A 12 hour delay that time. QF flight

Had a lovely flight back from DBX on one this year. Not too impressed with the fittings in the toilets as they seem quite fragile and a few screws were missing/loose. Other than that quiet and comfortable.
... due to problems with the navigation systems...
Almost looks like the AV Herald got it from here

Glitchs in the system
My mate said it didnt feel like a non event to the passengers ..said the aircraft actually felt like it had been slammed sideways ? i mean lets face it the beast is huge so what would be able to Jolt it like that ? and then imediatly afterwards the technical issues started with the navigation etc ? any ideas what could have occurred guys/gals ! He said that the pilot told them allabout the fuel dumping and why they where returning that there where a few concerned faces but for him the suprise was that the landing was so bumpy ...he said the aircraft seemed to be drifting like it was being buffeted was there any adverse weather in the area that could have caused that this ?

1. Airliners don't have to dump fuel and turn back for a landing at the departure airfield every day.

Granted, it wasn't a drama by the sound of it, but this is a rumour service, after all. Any problems with a post can be sorted by selecting the cross in the top right corner of the screen.

SQ318 indeed landed back to Changi at 1900hr+
Sources told was that there was navigation degeneration few hours into the flight that departed at 1246pm
Fuel dump was to reduce the weight and the risk of overshooting the runway (usually by destination, fuel would have been used and thus landing at destination will not have weight concern). Fuel dump could also reduce the severity of combustion in event of unfortunate accident during landing.
