Perth Ops Q400 Q-link
Hello all
Is anyone on here involved with the new Q-Link WA ops? I fly regularly between Geraldton/ Perth to meet the Skywest F-100 charter that takes us to work. I am generally happy with Skywest ops, on-time performance has improved over the years, and most delays seem to be down to congenital Perth congestion problems.
But when the long-awaited announcement of some competition on the route was finally made, I jumped on board. Two factors-firstly the five month offer of cheaper fares ( I pay for my flights to and from our connection to the charter), and the obviously quicker, newer aircraft. I hold a PPL, and am interested in all aspects of flying. The Q400 certainly gets along, takes 10-15 minutes off a relatively short leg, with better comfort than the old F-50.
So, of course, after I book flights from November to Next march, Skywest counter with the introduction of the the F-100 on the route, two flights a day aligning with the Q-link timetable.
My question is this-from everything I have seen and heard so far, on-time performance with Q-link has been abysmal, I have never been taxying less than 25 minutes late on scheduled departure time--the inaugural flight, I am told by someone in Transport, was an hour and a half late. It has not been down to congestion, no announcement about waiting for a taxi slot, just a shambles with bus transfer and "waiting for paperwork". Some construction work is going on at the base of the stairs when you board the bus, incoming/outgoing passengers have to cross, bus driver took us to a 717 once. Teething problems with a new operation, or congenital?
Or have I just had a bad run?
On another note, saw an ATR-72 in VA livery on the apron the other day.
