Random 737 Question
Hey,
I am currently doing a MSc in Human Peformance and Safety Assesment in Aeronautics at Cranfield, and I am currently researching Automation form a pilot psychology point of view. I am reviewing some papers and there is some techical stuff regarding the 737-3/4/500's Autopilots I am not getting my head around,
It is comparing the SP-77 to the SP-177 SP-300a and SP300e autopilots. I think the SP-77 and 177 are basically the same but the 177 has LNAV driven my a FMC but I am struggling with the 300a and 300e differences!!!
Is there anyone more enlightened able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Ewan

Hi Ewan,
I have about 5000 hours on 737-300 and -400. We never knew the model number of the autopilot we were flying with, so I can't tell you about '300a' and '300e' differences but if you have any specific operational questions, especially from a pilot's perspective, I may be able to help.
Cheers,
Eckhard

As usual, refer to Chris Brady's excellent site:
Automatics - An illustrated guide to the different MCP's & autopilots used on the 737
Just a moment's Googling!
