Winglets

Hi,
The a350 has a new winglet design, what is that kind of winglet called? Im quite curious about it because it looks quite futuristic. Also why did the a350 pick the winglet against the raked wingtip?
Finally when it be released (by that I mean when will the first one be rolled out)?

Elliptical winglets? Just read about them and wow, soooo cool. I wonder if they can be applied to any jetliners in the world. Like a new blended winglet for the 737ng etc. How about the sharklet on the a320?
