Wanted, Accomodation, "Oshkosh" July

I am planning a Photo. tour to the USA in July, to include "Oshkosh "

Problem being at this late stage Accomodation local to Oshkosh is scarce.

University rooms full.

I am looking for private accomodation (Non Smoking), single room, to cover upto the complete week.
I am happy to pay the going rate for a room.

Any offers?

With thanks

OPF

Old Photo Fanatic.
For the past six occasions, I have used the 'Sundowner Motel' , at a little town called Montello, west of Oshkosh. It is a small town of 1100 odd people. The problem may be that it is, in fact, 50 miles from Oshkosh, but it is an absolutely simple unhurried, and nice drive on normal roads at 8am.
It is run by a man called John Gardner, and has a website, though I don't currently have it. The closer you are to the show, the more you will pay for your room. His prices are very reasonable, and if you have a friend, then you halve the expense.. Nice easy drive back, stopping at the Red Apple in Ripon for dinner. Breakfast at Sparky's, excellent food [this is America] and it's open very early. If you want any further info, please post again. Cheers, John. Watch the speed limit in Rosendale. Fell foul of it, but got let off.

Try the EAA website - they will have details of private accommodation in the area which you might find useful.

Have you tried Ripon College? 19 miles on pleasant country roads from Oshkosh. They still had rooms available when I booked last weekend.

Thanks to you and others who responded.

I like the idea of Ripon College, fairly close but far enough away from the
"Oskkosh" effect!!! (Noise /traffic etc 24/7 during the event)

I have contacted Ripon and in process of making a booking.

Maybe we can meet up?

With many thanks.

Good place to meet at the show is the Warbird Cafe next to the Warbird park. Always met my friends there at 12.30 each day.
In Ripon, eat at The Red Apple on the main drag. Good food, plenty of it, and cheap. [This is America]. Give my regards to Rudi and Rose, the proprietors, from John and Dave. Enjoy.
