Serious UFO Sightings In The LBIA Zone

Okay, We have heard all the Jokes On This Subject Lol!!

But, There has been various recent sightings in the LBIA Zone over the past few months, The last major sighting was in mid April on a Friday night about 4 miles from the end of R14.

My father & his neighbour were actually one of the many witnesses to it, Seen from his own garden on a hillside 1.5 miles away overloooking a town called Shipley.

Would my father lie to me??

That night 5 very bright lights appeared out of nowhere in a row with a single bright white light in between the other 4 lights.

The bright white light descended down to treetop height for around 90 seconds then shot back up and the 5 lights in a row dissapeared completely into the dark!!

People on the edge of the pennines 14 miles away also witnessed this and the local papers ran the stories.

There was no noises or flashing beacons, So Helo's or anything else are out of the question?

Now this week there are reports of the same 5 bright lights over in the Wetherby area, Again at night & again a single white light of the same description.

LBIA Atc had nothing on RAD that night.

Is it something more innocent like the MOD or a connection to Menwith Hill?

I personally saw a UFO back in August 1987 over Leeds during the day, That perticular Triangle has been seen numerous times before & since then.

There is something going on if all these sightings are being reported by the general public?

I have been interested in the subject all my life and I have been involved in several very scary UFO incidents during my professional work. I would just say to you that even exceptionally qualified observers can be fooled into believing that they have seen something "interesting.

For some time I was an investigator for BUFORA and incidents which had people seriously frightened could usually be explained away. Something similar to what your father saw was reported by an observer in Hampstead many years ago. One morning he saw several lights quite stationary in the sky for many minutes. The lights got bigger, suddenly moved to the right and then disappeared. What he had seen was an aircraft inbound to Heathrow from France. The observer was in direct line with the aircraft track so to him it did not appear to be moving. As it turned on to final approach at Heathrow it "shot off to the right and disappeared".

I'm not disputing what your reporters thought they saw but I would lay a very large amount of money that it was not "suspect!

As for triangles seen in daylight.... Well I was once told that a huge triangle had been over West Drayton one day. I worked there and saw nothing; none of my colleagues knew anything, nor did any residents of the area so I simply do not believe in such things.

I seem to recall reading about a line of lights in the sky a while back (less than a year) - cant remember where, but it caused quite a stir...

Turned out to be a row of chinese lanterns released from some school fate or some such - photots looked very "strange" as were the reports of all of them "flying" in perfect unison - turned out they were just all being affected by the wind in the same way.

Could it be these that were seen?

It was in North Wales near Wrexham. They were out every night three red lights moving in formation and performing quite complex manouvers. I witnessed them one evening and they were quite impressive.

The local press of course caused a stir, and many of the people in the area truly belived that ET had decided to travel millions of lightyears to take a look at North Wales.

After about two months it turned out it was apparently a few local lads setting off chinese latterns and pulling them on strings. I was really impressed, it sure did look real.

Was there any cloud cover at the time? I've seen the result of a laser show which appears to be remarkably similar to your description.

Heathrow Director

Did you ever come across a report on BBC 6 o'clock news sometime in '67/'68 of 'UFO's sighted over the UK and along the Belgium/French Channel coast?

Thanks for the replies.

Fantom, I am not sure about any cloud, I will ask my father at the weekend.

I didn't think of Chinese Lanterns, If that was seen then they must be so familiar to a UFO craft?

Todmorden near Halifax is said to be the 'Hotbed' of UFO activity?

For many years there has been alot of locals witnessing 'Odd' movements of activity.

The most famous is probably the Police man who was out on his own in a patrol car up on the top of Todmorden driving along a country lane in pitch darkness.

He saw a very bright light & somekind of craft that had landed in the middle of the road.

He stopped left his engine running and the door open walked towards it, And looked at his watch - 3 hours or so had elapsed - which he could not account for.

He swears to this day that he was abducted?

I am going to watch the videos on Youtube when I get round to it, There's 8 videos lasting 8/9 minutes of an interview with the ex pc.

spookier things....

Whilst down the local in january this year, a man poked his head through the door and said that there 'strange lights in the sky'. I couldn't resist so I went out to see them for myself. I'm quite skeptical when it comes to things like this but when I saw them I was transfixed! I couldn't move a muscle as the 3 lights were gliding across the sky in the distance. There was no noise and they definitely did not belong to an a/c because of the distance between each light. After 10 minutes the lights disappeared and in another 10 I was walking home with friends across our local green when we saw some lads holding those flying lantern things and letting them off into the sky.

The buggers...

Lol!!

First it was Farmers producing Corn Circles, Now we have Chinese Lanterns, Whatever next?

There's a tale about a WW11 bomber flying around the Barnoldswick/Burnley/Nelson area on a night time.

It's said to be very loud and sounds to be not higher than 1,500?

A T3 Jetstream Driver friend & Ppruner used to fly out of Wickenby regular & he said he often heard hangar doors closing & other strange going on's.

We are not alone!!

Byalphaindia.. I don't know how old you are but I'm nearly 65 and I've been reading all this nonsense since I was 5!! Nothing changes. The same cranks dish out the same tripe in the same dodgy magazines. One person sees an aircraft nav light or a copper falls alseep in his car for 3 hours... the local paper announces it's a UFO and everyone in the village swears they've seen Elvis land in a flying saucer. I used to be in BUFORA then, one evening, I saw a report on TV of BUFORA members standing on ahillside near Reigate trying to make contact with UFOs. One nutcase had an alectric bulb fixed in a bean can which he was using as some sort of radar!!

Having been very intimately involved in several very scary incidents in my job I remain open-minded on the matter but don't let your imagination run away with itself or you won't sleep at night!

Fantomzorbin... No, missed all that in the late 60s because I was elsewhere in the world having a very bad fright! I know the Belgians and Mexicans have had some extremely interesting incidents though...

My other interest is crop circles (see the latest "Jellyfish" one). At least with crop circles there is tangible evidence, but in my 60 years of being very interested in the UFO subject nobody has shown me a sharp image of a "real" UFO.. I've taken hundreds of razor-sharp images of aircraft both on the ground and in the air but every time Fred Bloggs of Southsea swears his house is being invaded and shows us the pics all you see is a blurred shot of an upside down saucepan!!

I have been flying for the best part of 9 years now and I can recall 3 occasions (2 on the 742F in the S.Pacific and once on the 744 flying over Greenland) when I have seen "something" that could not be explained. I hasten to add that these "sightings" were also seen by my Captain and FE.

Now for those of you on a wind up mission, I will not give you the benefit of relating what we saw. I can't be bothered by the discussions that will occur by "Mulder and Scully" wanabees patronising me saying I probably saw my reflection or something ridiculous like that - USAF test aircraft flying out of Johnston Atoll...etc

I am a rational man but what we saw was totally irrational. And that is all I am going to say on the matter.

We are not alone. the truth is out there...
(apologies for the dramatic effect)

betpump5.. I don't dispute that you saw something. Many years ago I got a very seriously bad fright with a UFO and so did the crew of the aircraft I was talking to. It was at close range, just above the ground too. Problem I have is when someone tells me there was a huge black triangle over Heathrow in the middle of the day but apparently only seen by one person!

"Having been very inimately involved in several very scary incidents in my job...." Crikey, they are the ones I want to hear about!

There was something in the skies east north east of Cork some weeks ago which I was advised of - made for interesting hearing. I daren't put it on the Cork forum as people only think that you are nuts.

And of course there is the Saab Grippen story of some years ago as well. Again, though, people only think you are nuts so you got to be careful.

Heathrow Director - you might be interested to note that, as mentioned on an Irish forum, there was a report to Dublin 121.1 on 31/5/09 at 1435 by a crew of an unexplained sighting at 15000' like an enormous doughnut in shape.

This thread has got me interested so here is one experienced I had and to this day, it still keeps me wondering. I’m feeling slightly jovial so I won’t be offended by sarcastic remarks or any 'plausible' explanations. Take it as you will, even if you take it as "Reader's Digest".

I was just 3 months into my second airline job – 742F First Officer. We were chattered to fly from Alaska to NZ with a planned fuel stop in Pago Pago. I already had pacific experience from my Manila-Agana (Guam) flights on the 732 so I was used to the loneliness of hearing next to nobody on the radio and just staring into complete and utter darkness.

Our route took us straight out of Anchorage tracking South West to Nihoa (West of Hawaii) then a southerly track to Pago Pago for a 1 hour stop. When I saw this flight in my schedule, I was not too surprised. Being in cargo, we did have very strange routes and what we carried was even more unusual. The route was approximately 4800nm with a planned flight time of around 11 or so hours. There were three of us on the flight deck. My Captain, myself as co-pilot and the Relief Pilot.

Almost 6 hours into the flight, we had just passed Nihao and were at FL350 with a slight tail wind. It had just gone 2.15am(HST) 14.15UTC. Suddenly ahead of us slightly higher were 5 images. It is hard to explain. They were not 5 discs or ‘doughnuts’ with a bright white light of any of that nonsense. They were just 5 shapes that were of a light yellowy white colour approximately 5-8 degrees above our nose, so 10 degrees above the horizon.

If you had set up a camera pointed at our faces, I am sure you would have seen 3 men pulling silly faces just looking in awe at what we were looking at. The best way I could describe what I saw would be like a 4-light PAPI in mid air – except it was 5 shapes with a dull but easily seen light yellow colour emanating from them. The 5 shapes seemed to be moving or orbiting one another in a random fashion.

I can not tell you how long we must have looked at it for. It felt like eternity but I am sure it was no longer than 20s-30s that we just sat there in silence looking. Suddenly (which gave us all a little shock from our tranquillity) our moment of confusion was interrupted by a panic stricken controller in Honolulu asking us whether we had experienced severe meteorological conditions causing our 1500ft drop from FL350 to FL335. As this message was being communicated to us and more silly faces, the autopilot was already resuming our climb to FL350 passing FL337 at a steady 400fpm. By now whatever we were seeing had disappeared.

The Captain acknowledged coolly and calmly that we were now returning to FL350 and confirmed that we had dropped 1500ft but could not immediately inform the controller as to why we lost height. The Captain asked whether there was any other traffic in the vicinity to which a reply of negative was received.

We never felt a thing.

Todmorden is full of "odd" people so nothing new there then. Luckily I live 11 miles away but did have to deal with teens from there for 8 years! talk about duelling banjo's

Around March a very worried sounding couple wrote a letter to the local paper about unexplained lights over north Leeds late one Saturday. I saw the same lights and I can confirm that they were the result of a laser show.
Unfortunately, some people on encountering something unusual don't always explore all rational explanations first. Shock I suppose.
