Manchester Fair 2010
Heard that an Aviation & transport fair is being held again at the viewing park like last year.
Found it on here
www.tasmanchester.co.uk
Looks like the entrance fees have been reduced, they must have read this thread last year !!
Sounds like a good opportunity to have a clear out at MAN, anybody want a dozen radar screens and a load of worn out chairs ??

Aviation Fair
Looks like its going to be a bargain this year.
Entrance to Viewing park is free if you are a pedestrian.
Car parking isn't free though, its capped at £6 all day but less for shorter stays.
The admission to the fair is only £1 for adults and free for under 18s.
So if you arrive by Bus, Cycle or on foot its only a single squid to get in
I have been told that the designated charity this year is "Childflight" and that the organisers are looking for donations of any unwanted Aviation or Transport items to sell on the charity stall, they can be contacted via the email on the TAS website www.tasmanchester.co.uk

"So if you arrive by Bus, Cycle or on foot, its only a single squid to get in "
And just how short-sighted is that?
I can just imagine all the customers on foot and bicycle hauling their sacks of rare aeronautical booty home in the p*ss-pouring rain. All those rain-soaked travel-agent models and long out-of-print books.
Get real.
£7 to enter what, is effectively a car-boot sale, is hardly going to draw the cash-strapped enthusiast, is it?
The car parks at Cheadle Royal, Handforth Dean and 'Dumplington Market' are always nearly full. Why?
BECAUSE THEY ARE FREE!
Look and learn.

Did you actually visit the fair last year ?
Doubt it because if you did you wouldnt have such a negative view about the event, it was a roaring success with attendance figures that smashed the Gatwick fair and that was on the first attempt !! It raised vital funds for the society and £800+ for local charities.
The runway visitor park as its now called has buses running directly to it from the terminal and you can also catch any cargo centre bus with a short walk.
"Car boot sale" is a pretty unfair statement, say that to the professional traders that were there selling a vast array of products.
So yes it is a bargain day out and as far as I'm aware Tesco dont sell SBS boxes and Airport timetables !!
Oh and yes I am a member of TAS never tried to hide that.

777,
Correct,
I didn't visit the "Fair' last year as the cost was prohibitive.
I note with interest that the spotting facility is now called The Runway Visitor/Viewing Park.
Abbreviate this to RVP and confusion instantly arises with Emergency Vehicle RendezVous Point.
Has this 're-branding' come about because said runway is often closed for inspections, (televised or other-wise), impliing there is actually not a lot of 'aviation' to view?
Also, the new title is a misnomer as Manchester Airport (allegedly) has 2 runways.
I can purchase an SBS system online anytime from the comfort of my armchair.
And as for paying for an 'Airport Timetable', your surname isn't O'leary by any chance, is it?

"Cabbage Patch"
witty, but a bit un-PC considering the groups of special needs visitors to the park, but I am sure you were refering to us anoraks so that makes it OK
