Post Ryanair lets vote

The Ryanair situation seems to run and run on this site let have a vote no debate just yes or no.

1) Are Ryanair justified in charging for job applications and interviews?

2) Should Ryanair be prevented from advertising on this site?

1. No. .2. No, because whatever your feelings on the matter, you got to respect freedom of speech. No one forces people to apply to them and their advertising is in no way misleading. The issue of charges, while abhorrent to many, is dealt with entirely above board by the website. . .The advertising revenue from the banner no doubt goes a long way to funding Pprune, which in turn is used by so many to vent their opposition to said charging. It appears to me that to remove this source of funding for Pprune would be to possibly compromise the site. If this were to happen, the most effective forum for opposition to FR would also go, thus having the effect of shooting ourselves in the foot.. .If FR wish to fund a site that generates such vitriol towards itself, then we should be happy.

Whether it is justified for FR to charge for interviews is a 2 sided argument:

1.) Yes - it cuts down timewaster applications by 100% and stops pilots from getting free training and then finding a job elsewhere. Also, the huge expenses are covered and can be put back into the organisation, from which these pilots will benefit in the long term.

2.) No - no other European airline operates a policy of similar charges and FR should not be using these difficult times to their advantage.

Of course FR should not be prevented from advertising on this site - everybody has the freedom of speech and at least someone guarantees there are actually jobs out there.

TFI. .Demanding 50 quid to apply does not actually "stop pilots from getting free training and then finding a job elsewhere." What stops this is called £15000 for a type rating. . .There is of course another way to do this, its called bonding, you may have heard of it. It worked for me, and thousands of other pilots in the past, who were prevented from taking the training and running, yet saw it as a fair and equitable system.

Incidentally TFI, do you support option 1 or 2? Whilst I don't think you work for FR, you are definitely the biggest sycophant on Pprune (although I do agree with you on freedom of speech), so I reckon you'd be all in favour of screwing pilots at any given opportunity. Are you in fact a failed pilot who is tad jealous of those who made it?

1. NO

2. Who cares? As many people have already said let them pay Danny for the advert. You don't have to read it (I never have) and it's probably one of the few times Ryanair will have shelled out to anyone elses benefit.
