Thomson long haul 767s
Next weekend I'm flying Thomson to the Dominican Republic on one of their 767-300 aircraft. Ticket book shows a 3-3 row layout, and that cannot be right. Anybody out there flown on the newly refurbed -300s. My brain tells me that if its a Thomson kite, its gonna be 2-4-2 and an ex First Choice is possibly 2-3-2.
My wife is giving me ear-ache, coz I assured her of the seating layout, and that we would not have to sit next to "Some stranger" for ten hours - and she says that Thomson can't be wrong.
Help! A cabin pic would be perfect. Thanks people.

Thanks Wycombe, TeddyRuxpin (For the pictures). Also like the "Won't be a stranger after ten hours" thanks Bigt. BN2A, came back from Corfu on a -200 last September. Must have been one of the last ops.
Promise I won't bore you with the cruise pics when we get back. Cheers.

Ah, good old Alpha Alpha and Alpha Bravo.
They were removed from general service shortly after your trip and then sent out to Indonesia for three months on secondment to operate the Hajj flights, along with a detachment of crew.
I bet they don't look like that inside now after the Hajj and then a quick trip out to Phoenix / Goodyear and storage.
Some family flew out of BRS to BGI on a Thomson 763 a couple of weeks ago (G-OBYJ I think), and that was in 2-4-2.....very cramped in a 76'
I can assure you the legroom on all long haul TOM 767's is now very good (far better than most scheduled airlines)

Flew MAN/TFS on OBYJ in Feb -pleasant suprise as was down to be a 757 and leg room was at a guess 36'' ish, layout 2-4-2 in the section we were in (row 19) a very pleasant experience with seat back screens etc,-a world apart from the cattle class 757 we came back on ,you just dont realise how cramped you are until youve been spoit on a 767

That is indeed the case, but I never mentioned legroom.
My point is that the 2-4-2 across config on the 76' always has been and always will be too tight for long haul flying. As far as I know, no airline outside the UK charter carriers has ever used it (but I am happy to be corrected).
The same debate ensues for those carriers who have squeezed 10 across in the 777 - although that is not as bad.

Other airlines have had and still this configuration on some of their 767 aircraft including airlines in china and I beleive North American Airlines on their charter flights.
The main thing for me on a longer flight is the legroom and with 33" of it theirs plenty of it. Also with the great IFE you will forget all about the space

tom 767 s
Our 767 's have plenty of space down the back. Indeed the legroom is more than BA and Virgin. As for width of seat, seem's fine to me .IFE is very good too.

All TOM longhaul is on the 767-300.
Legroom on either the exFCA or exBAL Longhaul machines far exceeds most schedule carriers.
The IFE (when it works) is also superior to many scheduled airliners.
If your aircraft is Blue the fit will be 2-3-2 in Premium and 2-4-2 in Plus(econ)
If your aircraft is White the fit will be 2-3-2 throughout but with different legroom according to Premium or Plus class.
The 763 must be fitted with an optional strengthened flooring and appropriate exits before a carrier can fit the 2-4-2 config. FCA sourced theirs from the second hand market where there were no such Heavy763s it just happened to compliment their decision to go to plush seating. It was a gamble and paid off.
The white 767s - Plush they look - reliable they ain't. Take the one-careful-owner Blue ones to avoid delays.

Hardly an issue in my opinion.......I have flown many hours in those seats and they are fine! (and I'm not a small Guy!) The extra legroom is what makes the difference and the passengers have really appreciated it.

I'll second that!
