Photographing Aircraft I Am Flying On
Was just wondering sometime when the credit crunch fizzles out and I can fly to Dublin again would it cause a problem if I took a picture of the plane I fly on (probably Ryanair) either at MAN or DUB at the gate before boarding with us all being security conscious as we are?
Cheers

I shouldn't think that it would be too much of an issue
I've taken photos of the apron from the gate at Stansted, Heathrow and even JFK!
Each time, without any trouble, and in my case, none of the ramp agents/gate staff seem to mind
I'm sure staff are more than used to seeing passengers take photos

I can't see it being a problem.
As a Ramp Agent, if I/we see somebody taking a photo from the terminal windows, sometimes we will pose for them, sometimes we will move out of the way so they can get a better photo, and sometimes we will act the fool to add an element if realism (somebody, somewhere, has a photo of 6 of us Ramp Agents posing whilst wearing yellow traffic-cones on our heads - we got a round of applause for that one!).

Never had a problem even full on spotting at Heathrow is allowed in the good spots as I think the staff are pretty used to it. Mind you I look pretty average, I think persons of a certain appearance might attract attention....

True, But you do get the odd 'Jobsworth' who likes to plant a weed in between the plants!
donnlass - You could be waiting a good 2 years for this crisis to return to normality?
Don't worry too much.
Get it booked and go!!!

I have never found this to be a problem when commuting from UK airports, but at certain overseas airports, they don't appreciate our interests in taking photos. Certainly at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, photography is completely banned and at Verona Airport, Italy, I got my camera out to take some shots when walking out to the aircraft and got shouted at by one of the ground staff. I think the word is to use caution outside the UK.

I have never had a problem with photography in airports.
I can definitely say that if you made it to New Zealand or Australia ne day, you would not have an issue with photgraphy in any of our airports.

Amos,
Paris CDG is not as bad as you might think. It is possible to get a photo permit beforehand and having spent a few days at CDG photographing I had no problems. All you need to do is send a scanned copy of your passport page + address / occupation to a Mr Xavier Huby (google the name and the email address will appear) In return you will get a signed letter giving permission to take photos at CDG. Paris Orly is in a different district and photography is not a problem there.
