Acarsd

HI

There is an online Forum to help with set up problems on the AcarsD
website click Discussion Forums Sign up to Post.

I Run AIRNAV(PAY) and Wacars (FREE) and average flights logged
is over 1000 perday from my area That depends on where you
are . there are Acars groups for more info Data base updates
etc So either Yahoo or Google for those . for those interested
the logs are used by Spotters for Reggie tieups DOTS and on ground

Just how much information do you receive through this system? Can you read our free text messages?

acarsd

hi

Suppose you could if you decided to sit in front of Screen all Day just
watching those come in but you are talking 5 to 6 thousand Raw
messages . Most just leave switched on running in Background while
out all Day . Then you just have a log of REG-TYPE Company Flight
number which then is Edited to remove all the crap and updated
FRAMES and ROUTES . lot of work but if your Heavily into Dot
spotting and at Night Nav light Spotting (IT DOES HAPPEN) then
these logs are what you want to tie up Part Reg etc . Rest of
what's on them Of no interest or Use to spotters . it Also helps
the Airfield visitor who might snatch a part Reg make a note
of that and time get a pretty good tie -up . Those with mode
S boxes more or less the same but minus the routes

cable to connect airband radio to laptop

Hello

I'm trying to set-up my laptop and VHF receiver to be able to convert ACARS messages with ACARSD.

Can someone enlighten me what type of cable to use from my Yupiteru MVT 7100 to my laptop?
The radio has an 3.5mm female jack for head phones, which I believe it's mono.

What about distortion picked up by the radio from the laptop. Usually, when I put my radio close enough to the laptop, the sound quality is deteriorated and may interfere with the ACARSD program to convert the messages. Anything to minimise this problem?

Any info regarding setting up ACARSD?

thanks for your help.

Regards

hi

The Radio needs to be as far as possible from the Laptop but some
produce more noise than others . conect from Line in socket or what
you have on laptop to the headphone socket .set Radio to req freq
on Turn Sweulch fully off ; volume on Radio you will have to adjust for
best reception, I dont Have ACARSD set up but it should recieve
just like Airnav Turn on and away it goes . what you recieve depends
very much on location and Antenna . Short Rubber Duck on a hand
held may be of little use attach an outdoor on to it and may
get overloaded . Base Scanner and Propper Airband Ant is best

hi

have installed Acarsd and started it . For Referance Purposes only
as am sure the usual people will moan about use of radio even though
they do it themselves i bet .

so Start Acarsd and you will after a few Seconds get the main Screen
i hope. on this will say about the Law etc and Right panel will have
picture spaces. With a radio on and vol up and squelch off you
hopefully will start to see messages appear may need some adjustments
to scanner and Radio Settings . There are icons at top of screen
and the Windows one looks the useful one to play with.
Rest of documents look easy enough but thats down to user
to read and do what they want. (need more PM me)
