LFC Champions League Charter Flight

Well done to LFC last night, and to Chelsea for providing us with some decent opposition. I open this thread so that those in the "know" can provide details with charter flights scheduled to leave LJLA between 22nd and 24th May 2007.

Thanks.

....er sadly I may be wrong I don't think there are any are there ?
My understanding is that contingency for one and possibly two NWest teams has already been made and they are all running from Manchester.
About 15 aircraft were already provisionally booked in by last w/e ....
(..all foreign as TX, MY etc, etc ) are now all commited to their charter/schedule holiday programmes for summer.
If MUFC get thru they will use T1 and T2 to sort fans.
I was told that the reason is that Liverpool only hold enough fuel for there scheduled servicies.
Unlike MAN which has a direct pipleine, it has to be trucked in so there is none to spare for charters, and they cannot afford to buy so late in the day !
They will only accept aircraft with fuel onboard for a flight to Athens.
Contingency is for 34,000 pax......or 17,000 if its just one team
Still an awful lot of aircraft !
No idea if this is true so don't shoot the messenger !

From the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo...

"Liverpool John Lennon Airport said it would hold a meeting at the end of this week to coordinate chartered flights.

In 2005, when Liverpool won an historic fifth victory in Istanbul, there were around 20 chartered flights, but that is expected to rise this year as more travel firms get in on the act.

Spokesman Robin Tudor said: “We are expecting a replication of 2005, and perhaps even bigger than what happened two years ago. We are expecting significant numbers of Liverpool fans to be using the airport.”

JLA will have to prepare well, as it can expect to cater for 20,000 or more fans."

Didn't have any effect two years ago when 20k passengers passed through LPL on the way to Istanbul.

Companies have starting to sell seats from LPL from Monday 21st May to 23rd May already.

Liverpool expects to handle more passsengers through the airport than the 20k in 2005.
