fish Footie flights (consolidated)

The UEFA Cup Final will be held at Hampden Park on Wednesday 16th May 2007. As things stand its down to four foreign teams - Bremen / Sevilla / Osasuna / Espanyol.
Although the numbers attending may not be quite so high (though I suppose that depends on which two teams actually reach the final) this event has the potential to rival the 2002 Champions League Final which was also held in Glasgow.
I suspect GLA and PIK will be the main airports used. In 2002 I "think" the final was Real Madrid v Bayer Leverkusen (Germany). The Germans used Prestwick and the Spanish used GLA (more or less) and both airports were very busy.
Although it's early days.... if anyone has any aviation-related information associated with the event I would be keen to hear it.

The UEFA Cup Final in Glasgow will be between Sevilla and Espanyol (from Barcelona). Would be interested to hear of any plans for flights to GLA/PIK/EDI etc

For those interested a Notam has been issued by PIK the gist of which is "between 15th May 0001 and 17 May 0330 in support of the UEFA cup final only charter flights related to Espanyol FC will be accepted"

UEFA final at Glasgow

Believe XL had a problem last night at Manchester with positioning B747 to Spain as it missed night restrictions and was told to return to stand and therefore not allowed to depart until this morning, this was going to have a very considerable knock on delay of at least 7 hours

Local radio here in Spain is reporting that part of the problem is that paperwork has not been filed correctly (or at all) with AENA and therefore it is still stuck in El Prat (I assume its a flight for the Espanol fans).

Apprarently, and this is being widely reported now, the 400 odd fans due to travel have now blocked the main access road to the airport in protest!
