NEMA

Our local airport, siezed by Nottinghham, closer to Derby and actually in Leicestershire run by yellow jacketed muppets!

They should think about turning it into another carpark for BHX - a proper airport and one that does not keep all the locals awake all night with the racket from Frt flts.

NIMBY ALERT! NIMBY ALERT!

AA,

If NEMA WAS closed - where do you think those "all night" freight flights might go? BHX perhaps?

Muppetry at its finest.

Nope, definately in Leicestershire, confirmed if you consult a map. Post codes have nothing to do with county boundries. For example Grantham is in Lincolnshire but its post codes are NG = Nottingham....

Last time you checked, you were still wrong.

NEMA is in Leicestershire. That's why the airport police are Leicestershire constabulary, and LCC gets the business rates.

Phone numbers and post codes have nothing to do with county boundaries.

UPS@EMA

I wondered where all my parcels kept disappearing to:-

Its

Nottingham East Midlands Airport
Castle Donington
DERBY
DE74 2SA

"Leicestershire" does not appear in the postal address.

"Castle Donnington" is in fact Castle Donington - at least it was for the 24 years I lived there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Long Eaton is in Derbyshire, but has an NG address
Burton on Trent is in Staffordshire, but has a DE address
Kegworth is in Leicestershire, but has a DE address

As stated, Postcodes are not designed to reflect local government or county boundaries.

Post codes are issued by Royal Mail for their own purposes, and DO NOT take county boundaries into consideration.as has already been stated. They are based on the routings of the mail.

I know,I worked for them for 24 years. Very sad!

To answer the first question, NEMA is close to Derby, Nottingham, Loughborough and is just off Junction 23/23A of the M1 Motorway.

Rumour has it Ryanair want the airport renamed "Birmingham North-East" as a pre-condition for their further expansion of services!

If Ryanair had anything to do with it they'd probably rename it Aberdeen South )

It would seem that the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border runs approx 5km west to north from the airport, in favour of the airport being in Leicestershire:
