Thumbs up Can you believe this?

These people are in line to receive an Oliver award. This award is an Oliver (Ostrich head in the sand).

10. AIR CARRIER MANAGERS: who wrapped seatbelts around the fan blades of a transport's #3 engine to stop unwanted windmilling prior to sending it off with a load of passengers on a flight from the Far East to Paris, with only three out of the four engines operating at takeoff.
Oliver's Astute Analysis: Luckily, the improperly calculated excessive fuel consumption required the plane to land at Frankfurt, where German regulators grounded the plane. If it had gotten to Paris…..?.

The story concerned an Air China flight and was comprehensively debunked right here. The accompanying pictures referred to an (apparently) legit 3 engine ferry. Wouldn't it be nice if net myths expired after a certain period of time and saved everyone's valuable oxygen?
