Can you believe this?
These people are in line to receive an Oliver award. This award is an Oliver (Ostrich head in the sand).
10. AIR CARRIER MANAGERS: who wrapped seatbelts around the fan blades of a transport's #3 engine to stop unwanted windmilling prior to sending it off with a load of passengers on a flight from the Far East to Paris, with only three out of the four engines operating at takeoff. Oliver's Astute Analysis: Luckily, the improperly calculated excessive fuel consumption required the plane to land at Frankfurt, where German regulators grounded the plane. If it had gotten to Paris…..?. :E :E |
I could not believe it 3 years agot he first time I heard about it and saw the pics. Unless this is a new incident?

The story concerned an Air China flight and was comprehensively debunked right here. The accompanying pictures referred to an (apparently) legit 3 engine ferry. Wouldn't it be nice if net myths expired after a certain period of time and saved everyone's valuable oxygen?
