Or isn't that too appealing?
I went through there on a motorbike just recently, it looks like some of the areas have tourism potential!

I KNOW that I've finally arrived. Forty years of flying have given me an abhorrence of being near airstrips larger than 1,000 feet and terminal buildings made of concrete/glass.
Find yourselves a simple island serviced by island schooner where they neither know nor care what day it is. There may be divers, but not grockles. I suspect most plank-drivers will flock to Florida, Spain or Australia because being "airline pilots" they haven't worked in remote areas.
I'm keeping mine to myself; meantime I'm too busy to "retire". Finally got the time to do something for myself. If you're brave and still hungry, look at China, it'll keep your adrenalin going.

The time seems to have appeared, my place in the sun has been built. It lacks a few refinements such as swimming pool, however sandy beach at the bottom of the garden does give me access to the ocean. The problems with Africa do however include rapicious locals who can be a trifle rough, so next on the list is the security and alarm system, the night vision gogles and the silenced AK, just kidding, actualy considering a South American blowpipe in conjunction with a suitable paralyzing agent. A sort of Charles Bronsen meets Game Catcher if you will. I am also patenting an alarm system which teams a movement detector up with a speaker system and recording of a hungry black maned lion signaling the start of the evening hunt. This has the bonus of ensuring a well fertilised garden when activated. Portable generator, semipermeable membrane osmotic water separation plant and solar heating are all being considered along with satalite TV and phone for trouble free communication. Local services in all fields being somewhat sketchy.

Retire to N Scotland
By the time I retire global warming will make the coast of North Scotland just about right +15ºC warmer than now. If global warming does not exsist (be sure GreenPeace lied) I'll stay here in sunny Spain.

Has to be Cyprus or Canada for me.
The Cypriot food is the best ive ever tasted, the people are freindly and the climate is just fab.
TBH i would consider living anywhere cheaper/more warmer than here.

Place with lots to do and hosts of things to keep interest skyrocketting, no sun basking, let alone day long. On the other hand, certainely not France.

For me it would have to be one of the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. I wouldn't retire competely, maybe have a beach bar or potter in my sea plane taking tourists around and about, in shorts and a t-shirt of course!

Thailand and Portugal because I have relatives from both countries. I feel at home in both.
I love Cuba for the music and the cigars and I hardly ever smoke !
I am a also a Brasilian music 'nut' but as yet have never visited the country.
I am not sure I would want to be permanently domiciled anywhere? I suppose it is imortant to have roots but I like a variety of countries for different reasons. Money would have to be a factor so I think Thailand is the best value.

Raratonga in the Cook Islands of the South Pacific. Luscious fruit so you will never starve and the scenes of the most exciting hip swinging island dancing to cheer you up when you get a bit down with age. The people's smiles are genuine.

Retired to Australia after a lifetime of expat and long haul. Would recommend it to anyone, great climate, (Victoria), manageable cost of living and nice people, not to mention a great country to tour and sightsee.

Mendoza is indeed a nice place, for a long weekend. It might also be an option for those mad keen on the great outdoors. However, for those such as me who need access to cinemas, good bookshops and a decent orchestra the time might start to drag after the fifth or sixth day.
