This would appear to shed some light on possible issues:

Elon Musk may well have a valid point but I hope this isn't a case of "we're private sector, I'm an entrepreneur, we don't need no pesky licence"?

While Musk has a long standing and well known dislike of the FAA (and the SEC...), I think you'll find that SpaceX tends to stick to the laid down rules...

How does it go? "we are from the FAA, we are here to help you"............ (replace FAA by SEC/CAA/DGAC) where appropriate....

There are some well placed, knowledgeable people in the rocket business that think the FAA's and NASA's handling of manned spaceflight is making things less safe, not more.
One guy even wrote a book on it (I have a copy of it around here somewhere - unfortunately I can't remember the name right now - if I do I'll link it).

It doesn't really say what exactly was violated. I'm curious.

Thanks for that. I'm currently spending some of our lockdown wading through some Saturn V mission reports I found on line (got to pass the time somehow ) but have put the book in the "panier" for a future order.

No, it doesn't and the original article (below) refers to that. Whatever it was it would appear the FAA were not best pleased.

I think the Starlink Falcon9 launch has been pushed back to 3rd Feb due to choppy seas in the recovery area.

This 15 minute video seems to sum up the majority of the current issues.
The article in The Verge from a few days ago doesn't really quote any actual sources, and is mostly informed speculation.

Breath-taking flight, but rocket lost ~10 seconds pre-touchdown when second raptor engine suffered ignition failure. Despite an "inadvertent disassembly", much was learned I am sure.
