Rostering at Airlines in India

Can anyone tell me what kind of schedules are normal for the airlines in India. I know the 6 ON 1 OFF deal, but I wanted to know if Jet/or Spice/KF had 3-4 day trips or are they all day trips on the 737NG/A320. Also is there a Reserve system in place as well (at home or ready at the airport). Do expats go through ground school, sim training and then operating experience before line release? How long does that take?

YUCCY 24th Feb 2007 10:14

Is there a programm where it is possible to upgrade expat F/O to the left seat?
This is also very important question if you ask me while making a decision.
If yes what are the requirements?

strummerdude 24th Feb 2007 14:34

Has anyone recieved a security clearance with JetAirways since November?

Rostering in India - at the moment & expat upgrades

Most of my flights (A320), tend to rtn on a daily basis. There is not much overnighting at present either.

YUCCY - To answer your qu - not many at this point in time. Most expat pilots are on rolling contracts, & therefore, it does not make sense to the operator to upgrade the expat FO to the LHS. Whether this is a bad thing or not is debatable. However, for the time being, Expats are seen purely as a stop gap for the operators until they can fill seats with local pilots.

How is the selection pros. for non typerated pilots. Going for interview with randhem soon.

I do not know what to expect on that interview, any suggestions?

thanks.
:ok:

YUCCY 25th Feb 2007 15:15

Thank you very much for reply.
It will be very interesting topic if it is trouth that pilots on Randhem scheme have to sign 5years bond.

fly2fly 25th Feb 2007 15:54

Any information about Randhem conditions??
How come a 3 years contract with a 5 years bond???

Any information about their screening process?
I heard an interview + a group interview.

Any information about the questions being asked?

Thanks.

santos dumont 26th Feb 2007 00:34

How do companies secure their bonds ? I have heard that they make you make out many cheques in their favour and then return a cheque at a time till the stipulated bond time. Are there other ways ? What could be a plausible amount and schedule in the Jet/Randhem scenario ? What is it elsewhere ?

Would anyone out there actually consider bonding himself for 5 years ? :uhoh: And that as an expat in a foreign country one may or may not like ? :\

Accomodation

The first deal was 3000 euro tax free and five star luxury apartment.

Now it is $4400 and 33% tax and shared two bed room accomodation.

Accomodation in Mumbai is really expensive. You need some
$2500-$3500 do get a descent apartment. If there still are $1800 allowance it won't get you far.

What is the next deal?

C500 26th Feb 2007 12:17

Bonds

The bond is for 3 years, not 5.....

Before you fly off to Miami for your type rating you pay 5000Euros (6400Dollars) wich you later get back IF you stay 3 years at Jet Airways.... IF you quit before your contract expiers you have to pay them back what you owe them for the type rating minus the time you´ve been working there and minus the 5000 Euros

Exaple: type rating = 30 000 Euros
You work there for 2 years= 20 000Euros
(30 000/3 years = 10 000 per year)
30 000-20 000-5000= 5000Euros

So...If you work there for 2 years you owe them 5000 Euros...

Hope to see ya´ll soon:)

fly2fly 27th Feb 2007 11:20

30.000€???
On their website they publish 15000€ for the type rating + 5000€ for the 6 T/O and LDG...
How do they secure the bond C500??

Any informations about the interview and the group interview?

ILSTOMIN 27th Feb 2007 12:05

The interview is held from coming monday to friday.
I've heard that this interview round is currently full/closed.

"Thank you, come again" - apu.:ok:

C500 27th Feb 2007 12:54

First of all Fly2Fly it was an example..... How much they actually figure it´s going to cost I don´t know.....

To your other question about how they secure the bond... I´m afraid I don´t know that eather.... but as soon as I find out I´ll post it here...

Hepp:)

fly2fly 27th Feb 2007 14:52

It will help if anyone from this week interview give a briefing of what was going on?
Type of questions, exercices, information given, conditions, etc...

Thanks.

Is not the contract a bond?
I really hope that they wont ask me for money or a bank loan. 5000eu is ok, but more than that I am not willing to pay them.
Read in a Swedish forum that one of the questions asked is "What happends with the top of descent when the aircraft is heavier than planned" I think it is that you are going to have higher kinetic energy and therefore you need more NM to slow down. Any suggestion.
Going for the interview tomorrow. I am so nervous before interviews. Do you have any advise how to cope with interviews?

Randhem FAQs

Randhem finally posts FAQs on their website. Some are a bit confusing though. Like do they really work 6 days and then get 7 days off ? :}

Frequent Asked Questions:
We cant answer any question by phone, please send them by e-mail.
Thank you for your understanding.

They will be able to utilize the staff tickets and interline tickets arrangements as per the existing policy. Leave entitlement will be confirmed to you shortly.

Once the candidate obtains his B737 endorsement, we will initiate the security clearance process for employment in India for which the copy of his current medical, license and passport is a pre-requisite. The security clearance normally takes around 45 days and we will intimate the candidate once we receive the same.
Loss of license, how much?
INR 42 lakhs (95000 USD)

Is Jet Airways A Good Option?

Hi guys!

I have done the interview with Randhem for the first officer position in the 737 working for Jet Airways and I would like to have first hand information from somebody who is currently working for them.

I was told in the interview that it would be really tough :} ..and to be honest I am not enterely sure if I would be able to cope with living in India and all that stuff..This would be my first jet job so its a great oportunity that I dont want to miss.

The contract is for 3 years and they said that it would be really difficult to get a job back in Europe if you quit before those 3 years due to the very bad references that they would give about you, waht do you thinK?? Has anybody been in that situation??

I would really appreciate any information...

Cheers!!

Joe_H 3rd Mar 2007 21:33

I have a screening coming up very soon for 738FO, any info or tips for interview and sim.
any help very much appreciated.
thanks:ok:

strummerdude 5th Mar 2007 17:49

The conversion from Efis to NG only takes 3 to 4 days. It costs roughly 4 to 5 grand (us currency). So I've been told. You can get it done in Miami, and Amsterdam. Jet had a sim and could actually do it for quite a bit less but I think they're rather busy.
Can anyone confirm the rumor of WB departure from JA???

chrislikesblue 5th Mar 2007 18:00
