MAS777 & SIA777 ETOPS-related INCIDENTS

In 2001 I believe (but may have been earlier) there were a couple of 777 incidents related to simultaneous engine work on 777's belonging to MAS (KL-Auckland) and (in an earlier incident) an SIA777 featured with similar oil-system related problems in the Bay of Bengal.

David Evans (Managing Editor of ASW [Air Safety Week] is doing an academic analysis of the recently released FAA NPRM on ETOPS and is looking for any details of these two incidents that Ppruners could pass direct to him (ASAP due deadlines) at

I recall that there were two threads running at the time but they seem to have been killed off in the Pprune server moves. Any other pertinent comment on incidents or the FAA Paper itself (and its LROPS/ETOPS implications) would doubtless also be appreciated by David Evans.
