Foreign national with OCI to work as a pilot in India

Hello everyone,
This is inquiring whether a foreign national with an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card can join in the indian aviation sector to work in any job, preferably as a pilot in my case, and the rules and regulations concerning the same in the present day. Since the rules keep changing from time to time, i was hoping if anyone are aware of the situation and would be able to help me out! your help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am a fresh CPL holder and in the process of converting my foreign CPL to Indian CPL. I hold a foreign passport with OCI. I was born and brought up in India. And indian by blood. I would like to know what is the current recruitment process in the aviation industry for an OCI holder. Given the job as a pilot, firstly, and latter the engineering jobs and the airport operations in the indian aviation sector. Please enlighten me in this situation. Would of great great help!!

Thank you so much!

ok let me try and make this as painless as possible and be upfront and onest with you .

- yes you can work with an OCI. ( i did for 6 years )
- no one will hire you with a fresh CPL
- in order for you to work in in INDIA the current market requires P1 with command time of at least 500 t0 750 hour PIC in the following aircraft.

ATR 72
B737NG
A320
EMB175

really hope this helps ....

good luck

alternatives to finding a job

firstly thank you very much for your reply! i duly consider the details you have enlisted and it almost gave me a heart attack!

but considering the other options, should there be any possibilities to get inside the industry? and as such do you require a work permit when you hold an OCI?
recently i heard an american pilot got inducted with one of the indian airlines as a fresher (with obvious use of high level influence and internal hiring).

So as a matter of integrity, i understand high level influence and money can get you inside any airline. will that be a call and the slightest chance for an OCI holder?

And also i would like to inquire about the details that you have put down, are they the current, day-to-day rules associated with the employment of an OCI holder with the airlines?

I would also request your suggestion in this matter, how would one proceed further with respect to the details you've written down? Thank you!
