CSA A380 Job prospects

Does anyone know whether CSA has plans to hire direct entry captains on to their 380 fleet any time in the future? The way things are presently headed Emirates may have quite a few 380 type rated skippers who might possibly be interested, especially if foreign bases are in the offing.

Hi Abusboy,

In two posts your have suggested CSA only take guys with 330 experience, for the 330. However

Total Time: 6000 + Hours (excluding SIM time)
Jet PIC Time: 3000+ hours (on Jets over 50 tons MTOW)
PIC time on type: 1000+ hours on A330, A340 or A380; OR
PIC time on type: 2000+ hours on A320
Last Flight: Last flight as PIC on the above types within 12 months
Age: if A330 type rated - under 56 years at date of application
Age: if not A330 type rated, under 53 years at date of application Screenings are on-going.

Care to elaborate, or am I misunderstanding you?

A tad ambitious aren't we? Maybe if we do gunboat diplomacy we can get them to open up to take our people in, can't we?

DH1.
Ok I will rephrase that by saying 320 to 330 CCQ is not available at the moment,as stated check with the agents.
If you are 320 only and what to fly 330 ,may I suggest KAL as an option.

No interested in the 330 as I don't want a China base and can't live in Oz. Hopefully the 380 will be opened up to expats in the future with overseas basings. I'll keep looking out for it should the opportunity arise.

Doubtful it will open up as it is held for the Chinese Captains only. In China it is considered very political and held in high esteem amongst the Chinese Captains. If you want to fly in China try the A-320 or A-330 with lots of good high paying options. Unfortunately if you are an A-380 pilot you have risen to a level of incompatibility in the industry. There are many, many options at the A-320 level, a few at the A-330 level and only 1 or 2 at the A-380 level. Try Skymark in Japan as they advertise for A-380 pilots.
