Gliding Club SE Asia

Looking for a gliding club (not paragliding). Closer to Singapore the better. Found one near Jakarta but not much info on the net.

Any recommendations?

actually, I am looking for the same...since I moved to Jakarta I really miss gliding, but I'm not sure if the gliding club really exists (anymore), I mean their website wasn't updated for a long time and you don't find any other information about them...anybody knows something about this club or any other club in the vicinity?

I enquired with Nok some two years ago and was told they offer glider training but not of the intensive variety over weeks. I believe they do local soaring too but not cross-country.

I did not take up their offer eventually due to extended oversea posting.

Says on the Nok website that they no longer provide training.

Anyone have an insight into how difficult it would be to start and gain approval to start a club in Malaysia?

Anybody here had dealings with DCA with setting up a flying club etc? is it realistic?

Anybody want to join me and get a club started??

Looking at the Nok website the glider pictured is a Blanik L13 most of which are grounded worldwide now.
Setting up a gliding operation in Malaysia would be a huge undertaking, but good luck!
If you wish to glide for a week at a time, not just a day or two on weekends then I would think flying to Australia would be easier.

The one in Jakarta operates out of Pondok Cabe airport out to the southeast of Jakarta. The Jakarta Soaring Club - Indonesia

The airport is owned by Pelita Air Services where they do their maintenance from and serves also as a sports aircraft and experimental aircraft aerodrome. The circuit area can be quite interesting with Pelita's Fokker F100, ATR42-600 and a few gliders all in the traffic pattern.

There is no more gliding in Chiang Mai, i've enquired and reason was that a key member has passed away and as mentioned the Blanik got grounded and the AD was too expensive.
