It is a miracle that we even survived as a nation;after being left to die 65 years ago.
Being left to die is a far greater cry from independence... wouldn't you agree?

Correct me if I'm wrong... but didn't the Russia nee USSR provide quite a bit of aid to India too?

It is a miracle thanks to the efforts of Sri Vallabhai Patel who thwarted all efforts of the British to deliver to us a fragmented, divided and balkanised India by uniting about half a thousand states.

Didn't the Russia nee USSR provide quite a bit of aid to India too?
O Well ! Uh, Didn't the British steal quite a bit of wealth from our Maharajas too?
(Including the Sword of Tipu Sultan incidentally bought back by Mallya in an auction,Also worth mentioning is the Kohinoor diamond that the queen just won't give back to us.Read here Koh-i-Noor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When Elizabeth II made a state visit to India marking the 50th anniversary of Independence in 1997, many Indians in India and Britain including several MPs demanded the return of the diamond.

Oh and for Kingfisher, I worked with them till 2009, I saw the signs back then that they are not going to survive. I am surprised they lasted as long as they lasted.

You missed a critical one...3G, losses pegged at around 30,000Cr(5.86 Billion US$)

And personally I'd call Kingfisher also a big scam.

You are worried about Kohinoor when there are thousands of other things you could be worried about.
You mean like the thousands of other things that the British stole during that time.Um,Can you make a list of that too.

Here is a list of things wrong with India
We have gotta to do better than that buddy. The sub-prime crisis was a scam too you know.It cost the world about 8 trillion dollars. We've got competition you know.
I suggest you make a list of those who lost their livelihood and shelter and in that crisis and try to put a number on their suffering. Now that will be some list I say.

Isn't it also cool that you can talk n tweet about the corruption.Do you know how many countries in our neighbourhood even allow that kind of freedom (Someone rightly pointed out on another thread how the passengers would not have made noise if the flight had been destined for the Gulf instead of Kerala.)

Do you still think that the Britisher were the ones that really screwed up India?

There is no denying that they did. There were others before and after them. Why? You want to make another list.
This decadence (and violence),that we are witnessing is not an Indian phenomenon but a global one. This is not an Indian problem, this is a human problem. So lets stop pretending how developed and civilized the rest of the world is.

There are a number of countries that either became independent in the late 1940s or early 1950s. Others, like Australia, only became independent in the 1980s.

However, in Asia we also have countries that war war-ravaged (like Japan or Korea) and managed to re-build their economies at a startling pace in the same period of time that India reveled in the Ghandi mentality and did not move forward economically or socially.

The true question is whether a country is able/prepared to learn lessons from the past and correct errors very rapidly.

A valid criticism but India has a much more complex society than the countries you mentioned, and so the comparision is not equitable. Why did't you compare us with Pakistan ?

India reveled in the Ghandi mentality and did not move forward economically or socially.
No.India has not moved forward at the same pace as other nations because of the evil caste system. The other reason is the 1000 year old animosity of Hindus and Muslims.

Corruption is the result of the advantage that this division gives to those who have no conscience.
Do you know who started the practice of Divide and Rule in India? Make a wild guess.

Finally at last some closure to the diversion issues on this thread. Can we get back to the topic?

How can this crook be allowed to continue running this business when he does not meet his obligations to his staff? In any other civilised country this is fraud, deception and illegal.

By the way Apache, I applaud your patriotism. If more of my countrymen felt the same way my own country would not be so screwed up just now

It is obvious from your post that your intention was not about bringing anyone up to date. You have given zero info about Kingfisher. So let me do that for you.

Kingfisher Airline licence to expire on December 31 if suspension stays - The Times of India

As for the corruption, there is more money laundered at the American-Mexican border than what the poor Indian cop could ever dream of making.

Angry lol

heh heh heh apache u are a riot lol "american--mexican" border, most of the people i met in India have long since moved on past the British Raj, if after 65 years you are still stuck --well lol. On this website in 2006 when i was about to leave for Deccan some folks advised against it, saying the country was "dirty, smelly, and hot" it was all 3.
As regards these 3 things i`m afraid its impossible to blame the British, 65 years later people are still urinating in the street. maybe the govt should spend some money on public toilets.----in 2009 the govt decided to completly re-do the western 2/3rds of the 2nd floor of the Chennai airport, the relevant offices etc were not even occupied, yet the place stank of urine, and many of the newly painted corners were dripping with "beetle nut" spit streaks. (did the british teach u to chew beetle nut?)

It is surprising that this is a laughing matter to you.But what is more surprising is when people from the developed world can smell urine but can't smell blood.

On another note.... VJ reneged on the pay, as stated in the Times Of India. I bet the employees are happy they agreed with VJ not to picket the F1 race. In the words of Forrest Gump "Stupid is, is stupid does".

Diageo deal could pull Kingfisher back from the brink - Reuters

If VJ does indeed surprise, will people start praising the emloyees for their foresightedness?

It is important however to focus on what influenced their (employees) decision, instead of getting judgemental on them.Analogous to safety investigations, that aim at finding out what went wrong (and how to fix it), instead of pointing fingers and crucifying somebody.

Oh… I think what’s in that box of chocolates was rather predictable… bottle caps and foil from Mr.Kingfishers empties. Oh and a bunch of empty promises to go with the box.

Really, I thought it became predictable after you read Times of India.

He paid the March money on 25th and the April money on the 1st.I don't know why he did not choose to renege on those payments as well.

With every KFA supplier owed money, I just can't see a way back without a massive pile of cash available. Everyone will want cash up front and their debt cleared as there is zero trust with KFA.
