To Say Or Not To Say
Just some advice I am going to use a recruitment agency to secure employment flying in Asia.I was convicted of a DUI,May 2001 over 10 years ago.Since then the case has been long closed but still appears on my record.Should I admit this on the application,leave it unanswered,or check no since it is so long ago and the case is closed...I need some advice ...Thanx...

It all depends which country & which are you going to be flying.
Most of the airlines in lesser developed world would care less about DUI, speeding/ Traffic tickets & nor can they find out.
Mostly all they care in an EXPAT is accident / Incident free flying history, time on type.......
Still, it won't be a bad idea to check with a pilot flying with any such company.
Don't dis-qualify yourself by over disclosing..... The rest of the world doesn't work like USA.....

If I were you, I would not disclose the DUI offence.
1. Because is too long ago
2. Most airlines ask for criminal offences EXCEPT traffic violation..... Now, I thing I would be correct to say that DUI is traffic offences?

Crosscheck if they want to see a Criminal record as well, if so then check if the record is clean. I had to provide a No Accident / No Incident record from the License issuing Authority, (FAA), and a No Criminal Record from the Passport issuing Country as well.
A DUI is a Criminal offense, it was breaking the Law and not a Regulation. Therefore it could be in the record when You are asked to provide one at the end. It all depends on the Company you are going to apply for. Most of the Asian Countries ask for all and have access to crosscheck the information provided. Some of them have even no skills to make a real background check. That is how fakers make it thru the hoops as well. Mostly then surfaced later thru blackmailing when they are in a certain outfit.

If you from the US would the DUI not also show up in the FAA pilot records search? As you had to notify the FAA of the DUI?
Altough, I have not seen any of the contract jobs ask for more than the FAA no accident / incident letter.
Then you head down to your local police station and get a no criminal record certificate.... If you get a clean one... Your all set nobody will ever ask for anything else in the contract world (read into it... They dont care... Its just ass coverage and a tick in the box)

Airlines round the world are becoming more savy as far as offenses and convictions are concerned.
You may wish to perform a PRIA on yourself to see if the conviction appears on your FAA record. Also, you may wish to hire an attorney to see if the DUI can be expunged from your record all together.
Falsification of an application will not only lead to immediate termination of employment, but the reputation spreads rather quickly... just read PPRUNE for example.
