100+ is my guess,

I know 3 guys with 737 type rating with no job and 1 with ATR rating. I also know a guy that got hired last year by Jet, he did his 737 rating on his own.

definitely 100+ and the sad part is there arnt many 737 jobs now. There was a mad rush when Jet and to a certain extent spice were also hiring 737TR pilots for a while. But havnt seen much 737TR recruitment lately. Plus these 2 carriers do not have as many 737s on order compared to the number of 320 orders from other airlines.
So I think in the future we would probably see study recruitment for the 320 type rated people compared to the 737 TR people.

guy's please don't worry there will be a boom for 737 ratted pilot as well, I had a word with Shrikant Bhagwat, (Jet's HR Manager) he said they recruited 145 TR pilot's last year, and these 145 pilots are now getting online...according to Boeing, before they deliver or lease a 737, they want to see weather the company has the required crew to fly the aircraft, ( in crew, everything is included, pilots, flight attendants, engineers..etc..etc)

So they required to see crew before they deliver a 737, now jet has the 737 TR pilots which they recruited last year and now slowly and studidly they are placing there pilot's on 737..and right now they do not want any 737 ratted pilot's...but they will this plan is only planned till this December, meaning there will be an super boom for 737 TR pilots again, and God know's that may be of 200 TR pilots then!!!

Now talking about spicejet, spice has not stopped there recruitment for 737 TR pilot's yet!! they are still hiring pilot's only difference is, Supply is more than demand, so they are doing little natak! and people with so called JUGAAD are getting in!!

Express!! you cannot predict AI they might take100 TR pilots one day or 1 day they might take fresher's and train them on 737!! you seriously cannot predict AI!

neways to all those 737 ratted pilot's, keep your nose in the books and wait till December!! there will be an recruitment in or after december!!

Peace!

spicy you are right my friend, last year jet did hire a lot of type rated 737 pilots, like i said one of the guy i know did his rating on his and few months later he was hired,

nowadays a type rated guys has more chance to be hired than a fresher...a lot of people are going for 320 ratings nowadays

Air India Express is hiring type rated pilots at present

But they require 500 hours on type

Last date to apply is 15 July 2011

Even if you dont have the experience I suggest you try and also tell your friends who have a 737 type to try
All you have to lose is 1500 rupees ( cost of DD )

I doubt they will have experienced 737 pilots applying to company that dosent have money to pay their salaries

Here's the link

145 TR pilots

That was in addition to the 120 non TR pilots recruited during the August 2010 recruitment

Not really...paying for line training makes you a joke, getting typed is just like getting a license, I dont see anything wrong in that. Moreover even if you get in with a CPL the airline will ask you to pay for the training

What's the idea behind this short note found just after the experience reqs?

Note : In case not qualified on B 737 NG, due weightage will be given to command experience on Multiengine Jet / Turboprop transport aircraft and any prior airline experience.
Is it because they want pilots with some experience or is it just a loop hole to accommodate the "reserved"??
