DGCA 300NM requirment

Hello everyone,
I was wondering is there a DGCA rule that we have to get our 300NM X country done in just one day.
To be more specific am currently working on my cpl in canada, among the list of things to do is my 300NM. Since its winter, weather is pretty much bad all the time here. my several attempts have gone vain. My question is if i start my 300nm X country and get stuck at my first stop or the second due to bad weather and if have to spend the night there, can i continue my cross country from the same point the next day and still log it towards my 300nm..would DGCA consider it has 300nm...or do i have to start the whole thing from the scratch.

@ blackhawk777 : i have tried that but my is CFI is too rigid.
Do you both have any information on DGCA written exams.
After i finish my cpl I want to go back to India to my DGCA written exams, i have planned to do the rest of the time building later which will help me save money as well as recency hassle. But my friends told me DGCA has changed the rules and they wouldn't let me write the exam until i get my Canadian cpl which is not possible till i finish my time building
. I'm sure if the rules have really changed or if its just another rumor.. Pls shed some light on this.

Guys i know this thread is one year old but can anyone shed light on this?
Should 300nm xc be completed in a single day?
Also is it ok to carry an instructor onboard to be a Pilot Not-Flying and log the time as PIC in our log books? Carrying an instructor onboard so that if the wx gets bad at the first or the second aerodrome we can still come back to the aerodrome from where we started initially.

This is not a DGAC requirement, it is ICAO.
"20 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot-incommand including a cross-country flight totalling not less than 540 km (300 NM) in the course of which full-stop landings at two different aerodromes shall be made;"
from ICAO Annex 1 "Personnel Licensing", it is fairly universal. For example TC have regulation 421.30 (4)(B) for the issue of a Canadian CPL
"(I) 25 hours solo flight time emphasizing the improvement of general flying skills of the applicant which shall include a cross-country flight to a point of a minimum of 300 nautical mile radius from the point of departure and shall include a minimum of 3 landings at points other than that of departure; "
