dude recently many of us got offers from some shady companies telling us they are getting planes and need pilots, all of them were asking for a huge sum of money to get you type rated and work with them...all are suspiciously from philipines, two of my friends went to philipines recently paid 16 lack each, partied in manila for a month, they told me that the company will get planes by early december and they will start type rating soon....its april now no planes and no type rating still....party is over and they are back in india...havent seen them online on facebook since a long time ,they havent had a word with anyone i knw....proably they are too ashamed to talk to anyone....so dont fall for such shady companies, all they will do is take ur money and run away....wait for time to improve like all us,dont let your desperation get you

END of the ROAD

@beginthejourney....dont let your career be cut short by such schemes! IF i am not mistaken...it is the same agency asking for 35000 USD for a type rating on a Zamboanga based YS-11 !!!

STAY AWAY! (if you value your money and career!)

The Rice Rocket YS-11

Looks like a scam to me. Ther is no support by NIHON and very little if any parts to airframe and engins RR Dart mark 542. Have more time in the YS that I want to remember..............

"They say they are going to...."

That is the whole problem. No proven track record, and they want you to pay for the type rating. And on top of that, it is a type rating that will be totally worthless any place else, because nobody flys YS-11s any more. If it was a company with a good history AND was paying you enough to pay for the training plus pocket some decent cash in one year AND it was a marketable type rating, then it might be a viable option (for the right person). Without those two basic requirements, it isn't a viable option for anyone in my opinion.

@Kapt:

Just stumbled into this thread by accident ..

With the EU Ban, Philippines Aviation Authority may allow YS-11s to take to the air .. and so will the Yak 40s, and .. BAC-1-11 ???

Anyway, Inter Island was doing twice weekly YS 11 flights to Vigan .. and I wonder what they were doing when they dont fly .. Fly Fish ?? Or prawns ??

A YS-11 used to operate this route about 4 years ago. They lasted about 2 months . Then an AN-24 tried the same thing, it lasted about 45 days. Their average load was 4 pax per flight. Even a BN Islander wouldnt make money on this route. STAY AWAY!

Post INFO

This is to everybody who thinks that if you pay you will get a job on YS-11, you are absolutely wrong.
Secondly the persons who are commenting on the viability of the operations are requested to keep their views to themselves. Persons running the company know how to run it. And about previous operations in that region they had lot of other issues not related to the operations and more towards personal side.
If you have any questions PM me.

Stone_Crusher

About the viability, not in a negative way, but positively, I noticed that a lot of feeder traffic is building up lately ..

Especially Laoag, San Fernando, Tugegerao ... Add in Basco, San Jose .. mostly small craft - Let/BN2

Is there any government incentives for these operators to fly these thin routes ?

Just picking your brains ...

yes the operators can be granted some incentives.
It depends on the route you are flying.

This is to inform all that there are no pilot hiring going on for aero majestic airlines and any advertisements regarding any vacancies for pilot jobs in the comapny are a scam and completely fake.
