Hello flyingcoffin !

The best thing to do would be to go personally to DGCA office in Delhi. Stand outside looking like a hopeless innocent aspiring pilot.Wear simple humble dull coloured formal clothes. Put on a sorry, depressed, melancholic face and pace up and down the street outside between 3 and 5 PM.
Soon, an agent will approach you and you'll get to know how everything really works.

I don't quite think so! ...Don't get me wrong - I still consider the DGCA and it's operations the single most appalling tragedy to happen to India after the British Colonization...but as far as Licensing is concerned, they only do point out genuine shortfalls/blunders.

Wrong..!!
DGCA is an organisation which will teach you the meaning of the words patience and persistence.
I've seen people getting their licenses rejected for silly reasons like:
1) The CFI's signature doesnt look same on all pages(signing 100papers in a row,he's also human)
2)Forms not completed accordingly(Even though they're well filled)
3)And the worst part, they just create rules for themselves.
When it comes to conversion the licensing officer can demand anything from you and if you question his authority he will only say take it if you want!

But still these are exp. for my friends who applied at the same time with me.
But I got my license in 70 days. Even though I had to make atleast 25 calls to DGCA and write them frequent emails.

I just wanted to tell this out to people as DGCA has created some issue during conversion for almost everyone i know.

Agents are going to charge you from 25K upwards. And it goes up if you miss any papers. I know quite a few in delhi. PM me if you need any numbers.
Personally i'd recommend go there by yourself and try your luck.

hey thread starter!! buddy your name sounds so ominous..

coming to the point-- well i had no problems whatsoever with DGCA regarding the issue of my license .. maybe my Gods smiled on me..i got the license in flat 60 days without any call or persuasion sans any hassle so my advice i.e. if u buy my advice, would be to refrain from such agents and try your luck bearing in mind the tremendous paperwork that dgca gets every day in the form of license applications with limited manpower to exercise their duties efficiently..
its good if you stay close to delhi as i would say be ready in advance for unwarranted visits to dgca safdarjung .. countless hours of waiting around in the lounge watching india tv or ipl highlights staring at the digital clock and looking like a hapless aspirant who needs a guardian angel at the dgca ....
my views here are purely on experience and not an attempt to generalize or glorify dgca babus' work culture.

"expect the unexpected" ... if things work out well itll be a pleasant surprise for you

i do agree you must be one lucky guy!! the problem is that if you pay an agent upfront while submitting your documents, they would hardly check your documents and issuing of your license in 10-15 days is a gurantee.
but if you take a chance or try your luck and than the DGCA comes up with any shortfalls and than you try to go to the agents than they would try to create unimaginable stories and situations to scare the **** out of you.. their only means... to get you shell out more money..

So its kinda dicey!! and since all my friends had some or the other issue.. i was thimking its the best to just pay upfront...

Well good on you "A man"...nobody else got lucky like you...And things changed a lot recently, min. of 35-40 days will be taken just to open your file.
So exceptions are not examples..!!

interesting points put here..The big old saying works in DGCA "Na Baap Bada Na Bhaiya Sabse Bada $$ Rupaiyaa $$" well me nd my frnd submitted the docs on the same day, he payed a big sum to one of the dgca guys discussed here.. the result.. he was asked to pik his license in 11 days.. and i am still shouting on the top of my voice but DGCA is no ears .. it has been more than 50 days now, no objections, no shortfalls!! the only problem that i have is that i din fill their pockets!!!!
