what can FAA license holders do in the Philippines??

the regulation here in the Philippines is pretty difficult to comply with in terms of converting foreign licenses compared to other countries.....

flying here in the Philippines surely sucks.... raising the requirements for foreign license holders doesn't mean anything..... that means they really are encouraging faking of flight hours which is dangerous...

any ideas on fixing this problem ???

Increased requirements

Are you referring to this ?

" The applicant has completed 200 flight hours in a Republic of the Philippines
registered aircraft which are operated by an operator established in Republic of
the Philippines exercising the privileges granted by the validation certificate; "

This is actually not too much of a problem if you have a work visa and a "Validated License"..... your validated license allows you to work --- "exercising the privileges granted by the validation certificate" meaning if you have a foreign CPL that was validated, then you can exercise that privilege of your foreign license

I'm not sure though if the licensing division's interpretation of this means you can train as a flight instructor.... however, the way I look at it, you should be able to.

There's an FAA CFII based in Clark who gave me a tip on the FI rating validation. You just have to catch a certain CAAP check pilot in a good mood and explain to him that you're holding a foreign CFI certificate and need a validation to teach to build time.

According to him, it took almost a year for the check pilot to wise-up and interpret the law properly but eventually he was able to get it from the guy and get a job.

The other check pilots, on the other hand, simply don't know and don't want to dabble in the "complexities" of foreign license validation.

it's over for me

i got the chance to teach for a few months as an FI.... but after that they told me to stop teaching......

i dont know but they just dont trust FAA guys.... they would prefer other incompetent guys who are CAAP licensed to handle the Flight training....

regulations

the regulations here are not quite solid especially on foreign licenses... so they can just bend the rules however they want it to..... if theyre happy you stay ... if not they can just throw you away
