Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA) - any reviews?

Hello folks,

Any reviews or ideas about Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA) located in Dhana, MP?

Any idea about the cost of flight training here? And more importantly, quality of instruction?
you can visit them here http://caaindia.com
Cheers

Sunny

since you're already in the US, do your training over there.

it'll be a whole lot more expensive and time consuming to do it in India.

CPL training in India Vs the US

Hi
I just feel if you are going to pay in INR for your fees, with the way the dollar has escalated in last 4 months, almost 30% dearer, its better to enrol for a course in INR becasue even if you have enrolled for a course for $35000 i.e. about 14 Lacs INR , todaythat same in INR is 30% mroe expensive i.e. toady at about 18.2 lacs!!!!, so do bear that in mind.alos recently many acdemies overseas have gone bankrupt. So while selecting your academy do look into the academy set-up (how many aircarfts, student to aircarft ratio, is it integrated, geographical location to enable flying round the year) , cost and economic condition. In India i feel Chimes Aviation Academy & IGRUA, both are quality institutes, do visit them before taking a decision.
Also for students planning to go overseas and then take a job in India , do add to your cost and time:-
1. Boarding lodging overseas and travel - a min of 4-5 lacs for a 10-12 months
2. never join in winter season, with bad wather you would hardly get any flying
3. Remember they will issue a JAA or FAA liecnse and you will ahve to come to India and get a DGCA license, typically a 6 month study and FAA/JA license needs to be renewed every 6 months so another trip!!!!
Review your options carefully and make a educated decision

Would be happy to clarify any other doubt

rghosh, at what post do you work at chimes?

stop misleading people ... FAA issues a certicate and NOT a license, it's valid for life ...

And in any case, any guy or gal, whose pondering to go ahead with flight training at this moment, should hold his / her horses for the next couple of years atleast ...

my 2 cents ... good luck!

????? That's why God invented Florida and Texas ... I do note the OP is in Michigan, so there's some validity ... but actually you'll get about 15 days per month even up there.

Nope. IIRC JAA is every 6 months for an IR, but that's not as far as, say, Michigan. FAA doesn't expire, except for the BFR - two years. You can probably find a way to do that over here.

The comments on the strength of the dollar are valid. Travel and lodging vary considerably. Overall I'd say it's still cheaper in North America, especially since the OP is over there already.

That's the cost issue. Quality of instruction I can't answer. And, OP may just wanna come home for awhile. I know the feeling ...

pondering to go ahead with flight training at this moment, should hold his / her horses for the next couple of years at least ...
Well, yeah, but in the current market if you can negotiate a really good price ...

Life's a gamble.

Wink thanks for the reply

Yes, am located in Michigan. Am right by the lake and we get a ton of snow, however am doing my training elsewhere. rotorhead was right on - I just thought about India as my family is all there and it would be nice if I could be closer to family, after all i have not seen them in almost 3 years.

I was wondering what the cost is for the training at CAA? However the course only gives me 200 hours as opposed to 255 that most places in the US give.

Most people feel that this is the good time to do training, and be able to catch the wave of hiring by airlines when it comes.

Cheers

sunny

sorry to sound so negative, but when there are literally thousands of low timers ready and waiting ... there's not gonna be much of a wave to surf on ...

you might want to give chopper flying a serious thought.

Stop Misleading!!

Well the terminology on certificate or license is correct but its not a mislead as I wasn't addressing certification Vs License.Though you rightly pointed out its not a certificate.
Well i don't work with Chimes but my brother had done flying overseas so the reviews, but i have visited their academy and was very impressed. Well the license/flying does need to be renewed for DGCA certification as you would have a gap of 6 months of no flying, thats what happened in his case.So hope you answering this question w.r.t DGCA norms as I am refering to DGCA CPL.But India or US do proper evluation of completion time, placements (US/UK airlines don't take fresh CPL, Indian airlines do!), faculty, fleet type and fleet strength. But i surely feel now India also has quality insititutes and infrastructure
I personally feel this is the time to do the training as this is a long course , so you woud finish by 12 -15 months by when the market woudl ahve picked up and you would be amongst the few qualified available.
It like converting recession into a opportunity!!!
