What will it currently take ?

Does anyone know what it will take for a FAA Commerical Multi/Instrument holder with 1700 hours piston (500 multi) to get on with one of the asian or indian carriers flying any jet aircraft

ON the serious front now....you definitely need to have either a 320 or NG type to get a job in India.

Do you think a type rating will be enough, or will the lack of time on type hold me back. I was hoping with the way things are going with the alleged pilot shortage, that we would all beable to avoid the time on type issue as the market sucks up all the current crop of foreign A320/737 FO's

I belive there is a big chance to get job in the future if you have a Type Rating. The minimums are getting lower and lower. read the article below and it will answer your question.

I think Austraila is also pushing for less actual airplane time to be required for FO positions. I think cadets now show up with 200 to 250 hours aircraft time.
