Royal Brunei roster bidding (lack of)

Just noticed on the pilots forum that little response is happening in this subject, apart from the constant downroute bar complaints.

Shall we see if a little anonymity will help. The time is ripe to fix this problem with the B777 schedules upsetting the old system.

I for one feel that the entire rostering system is in serious need of overhaul to stop the constant meddling from the "tech log never lies" abusers and if this post gets the overwhelming support the forum doesn't then management will know.

News from Station Managers' meeting

Couldn't agree more, Nasi Lemak.

News hot off the press from today's station managers' meeting: we'll soon be running 7 days per week to Sydney, and to Brisbane/Auckland. This should stop the "roster abusers" in their tracks! An overnighter is nowhere near as attractive as a 3 day layover.

So, will the training department now decide they want to go to Frankfurt??

Hi Bongo, (hows the cold wx treating you)

I heard this as well today from a station manager but seeing they have now dropped the idea of Madras in favour of Bombay or Delhi, I wonder how long they will kick this one around before changing their minds (not to mention the lack of aircraft or crew)

Still, I notice that the current long Syd and long Bne both have T/Cs on them and of course they are the usual suspects for these ports.

Steady on there, Seemore. As on of the few Brits not involved in the training department I get just as much rubbish as the rest.

Back to Nasi Lemaks original post- yes please-roster bidding is a wonderful idea and publication of the months rosters for all to scrutinise is the only way to stop all the bitching.

"publication of the months rosters for all to scrutinise is the only way to stop all the bitching."

Good point, Brit. If every one could see who was going where, those who play favourites might be shamed into taking their fair share of the less desireable trips.

I have to say, it's not just the training department that seem to be able to cherry pick the roster. It's interesting to note that certain line pilots manage to get trips to their home base on a regular basis, yet one guy I spoke to recently who has family in PER has only had two PER trip in 2 years, and both of those were calls out from standby!

So how you propose to fix the problem? (seeing as the time is ripe due 777)
A few bleats on this forum is not going to do much more than the downroute bar complaints. It is endemic, look at the tech log entries, talk to the agents, look at the paperwork in MCC files:

What can be done?

The interesting thing is that these people who continue to rob the majority of us , the odd deserved Southern trip go out of there way to justify there trips. The excuses are many and marginal.
I have no sympathy for these bar stewards and if their sensiblilities are offended by people calling them on their poaching habits, knicknames that have formed because of said poaching/bribing/grovelling habits...........

TAKE IT! You obviously have no problems pulling the good trips off the Europe Kings, so take your medicine and don't go crying to fleet or whoever.

The Seniority has a few perks theory...It worked for a while, a year or three. But the job has changed and all you stewards out there currying favours and taking the jam out of my doughnut, have never done two and half to three longhauls a month.PERIOD!

You cant be one of the boys while you are doing your best to give them the high hard one around the back door.
I believe the 777 will make zero difference as the 777 will fly where these guys want to fly. You watch!

So, what to do lah?

Couldn't agree more. My original post was simply to see if enough people wanted roster bidding, as the thread on the RBA Boeing forum was not getting many responses. If enough people want it then management can be approached.

OGH,
No I am quite happy thanks.
I was simply responding to a thread started by someone else, mirroring the majority of individuals perceptions to this issue.
Honestly, I have been treated more than fairly by the rostering staff by consideration and I am very thankful that they and the fleet office do take requests into consideration.Full credit to rostering and Fleet!

They are fair to me so I will always be fair to them.No problems whatsoever!!!!!!!

The issue is not that though, someones wife was recently heard to mention at a party that ....my husband gets most trips that he wants becuase he gives people things...... words altered to protect the innocent.
I think that this is what people are upset about.

OGH,

Who do you think you are?
If you do know me, as you clam too, then you know my phone number by default.Give me a call!
Only person telling stories here is you and Nasi Lemak.
Stop airing your dirty laundry on a public forum and stop abusing guys over the internet.
You are giving the guys on the Command course an bad name and you make yourself look like a eunuch by default.

I am not one for currying favours and spying on the boys, but fair go hey !

The Boeing Fleet Manager

OGH Well Said.

I do not see your post as a personal attack, dispite the words that you use. Simple fact.

The lack of morals or spine took a plunge when F. O. X. left (and he still fleeces the Co re the 777)

This fleet manager was turned down by SIN simply due to his lack of morals. should have been sacked long ago. yup he will get his dues, and none to soon

Talking Last Drinks

Well Gents,

This forum alternative has been running for 2 weeks and only a few roster bidding affirms registered.

So either not many care OR the majority are happy OR this is not the way to measure majority opinion.

As the originator, its last chance to get your orders in before its shut down and thus all further comments back to the downroute bars.

Thumbs up Happy Times

Yeah Right

Well done Nasi for starting the thread and it is obvious from comments that all is not well and there is a very strong feeling about the roster system, which is basically our lifestyle, most airlines place priority on this as an important facet as they understand the need for harmony and quality roster balance.
Basically it all boils down to inept management and systems.
The problem is endemic, and almost a bred culture that benifits certain hierachy and bottom feeders. Until this is addressed the abuse in rostering will continue.
We can all blame the roster abusers and fair enough, they know they are being unfair and basically ****ting on everyone else' so long shall they suffer.
The management in the fleet office and the rostering hierachy are allowing this culture to contine and until they take a good hard look in the mirror at their two faced approach of grace and favour, then unfortunately this system is going to continue.
How the average non crawling, hard working pilot gets a balanced roster is the question and the obvious need for change, which is not hard as there are many good suggestions falling on purposely closed ears.
Also well done OGH, true comments that need answers!
