Royal Brunei Airlines
Hi, could you let me know what life is like at RBA...From old threads it was not too good with Rostering and management and the overall package, pay, schooling, days off etc, what is the deal now, I understand new 777's might be arriving, is there a new package for this any response would be greatly appreciated...

Hi,
Unfortuately the airline has not lived up to its promises.
So much so that even the locals are leaving for better pay and conditions.
You would think that RBA could do great things for its people and the rest
of the world, but there doesn't appear to be the will.
Personally I would of hoped that after 10 yrs things would have changed.

I enquired over a month ago and did not receive a reply,after some research decided to take another option, and it looks as if I have made the correct choice.

One thing I forgot to mention was B777 pay / month
All up about US$7000 same as the B767

I understand that there is an explanation for the salary level, as it has to match a certain level among government employees.
What I do not understand is how there can be no retirement package, as (from what I gather) it is standard practice to offer an EPF deal to governmet workers. As a matter of fact, I thought it was mandatory.
Can any of you guys working there elaborate on that?

Hi there,
I have been serching some info about RBA for a long time as well, but not get any....
So, is Rishworth still handling all the recruitment? Is RBA taking new ones theirselves? Or, only Kiwi has to go thru Rishworth??
If anyone can give me some info for recruitment, it will be great.

Jack Preist is the best to talk to at Rishworth, he will be able to fill you in on whats happening at RBA, (if you havent got Jet experience),,but if you have an 767,777 or A319/320 endorsement you may be suitable for direct entry, speak to or send your resume to the Fleet Office.

Hmmm interesting, US$7000 = basic pay or total package? Is free accommodation provided? Is there any flight pay / pension / education allowance included in that?

Cancellation of the BKK to FRA route
RBA rumour network has the BKK to FRA route closing down after the winter schedule, the beginning of November. Apparently, you cannot book a ticket from November onwards. The SkyCare team in FRA seem to be rather concerned about their ground support contract in FRA and BKK. Times in the "Abode of Peace" must be getting desperate.
I hear passenger loads are not that flash, due to last minute cancellations of too many flights. Perhaps RBA is getting too many law suits for flight distruptions. Does rather beg the question, why are the B777 for then. Are they really coming, or is it the usual talked about fallacy, just like the A340-500.
I understand the LHR flights will continue, but for how long. Is RBA being turned into a low cost model. They will get killed in the market, by the likes of AirAsia, JetStar etc

Any other avenue to go through? Just don't trust Risworth. Already mucked up a current contract for me to the tune of US$3000 per month and lost anothers paperwork!! More likely what I'd expect from amateurs.

CT7 do yourself a favour and dont even bother with RBA. There are many jobs out there that offer far better pay and roster continuity, and lifestyle, rather than work for a disorganised airline that doesnot know what it is doing from one week to the next.

CRUISIN, just out of interest. I'm currently looking for career oppotunities in South East Asia and RBA has been one of the companies I've been looking at.
When you say their are lots of other better companies out there which do you have in mind and why? All inputs are gladly wellcomed.

RBA careers

I agree with what CRUISIN said in his last post about RBA being a bit of a shambles, which is quite a shame. Being such a small airline it could do so much in the way of treating its staff better and in return they wouldn't have such a high turnover of experienced pilots and engineers leaving.
I think for advancement of junior first officers this will probably be a good place to start and once they get sometime under their belts move on to new pastures, as for experienced pilots, well, not such a good place.
I have used Rishworth in the past and know from experience that they are purely a recruitment agency and in someways don't real give a hoot about you once they have that contract signed. You have to remember they are making a great deal of money from you being placed in any job, whether you like it or not they have got their money. Now saying all that, once you get through the first few months, things settle down and you will find the pay in your bank every month until the contract finishes.
Personally I would contact all airlines directly as you have cut out the middle man and that has to be better for you?

Hello everyone i'm new here..i'm just wondering whether RBA..will accept a foreigner e.g singaporean as their cabin crew?If yes wad are their minimum requirements/qualifications?and will the interview be held only in Brunei?

They do have foreign cabin crew on local terms & conditions. S$650 a month plus flying allowances. Take home in the region of S$1200 a month. It'll cost you about S$350 a month for a room. There are/were a group of Chinese cabin crew on "PR of China" Terms & Conditions who flew the Hong Kong and Shanghai routes and had company accommodation.
