KAL B744 DEC commuting information?
Fellow Pilots,
I am considering requesting interview for the B744 captain position at KAL that several recruiters are currently sollicting for. I am currently flying B744 for an Asian carrier. My primary interest in considering the job is the ability to commute as they advertize 11 days off in a row per month with booked C class return ticket. Does it work as advertized? Additionally, would appreciate any comments on training, cockpit/company atmosphere, lease company comments (Rishworth, CCL and GAP).
Thank you in advance.

Yes it works as advertised.
Do NOT. Repeat DO NOT sign with IAC Pacific. Rouges and theives. Steal from employees as proved in courts in Vanuatu. **nts of the first order. CCL offer the best deal at the moment.

yes it's true.
You can commute between Korea and your home base riding on a first class seat and have a 10 day off for your vacation every month.
I heard from an expat captain that the working condition at KAL is better than an airlines in Taipei.

Have to agree with the CCL comments. Best deal I have seen.
I don't work for KAL but can confirm that the following is all accurate:
Min of 9 consecutive days off pcm. 24 days leave pa which they are happy for you to take at 2 days pcm and turn into 11 consecutive days off pcm.
Salary and staff travel all happens exactly as advertised and you can base yourself anywhere on the KAL network.
Sim training done by expats and to a good standard. Line training is apparently a bit of a hurdle with the local trainers. Days off in ICN hotel in between trips can also be a bit of a drag.
Overall, its an average but steady and reliable option once you are on line. Be ready for a NASA style medical though. And less positioning than where we both work at present!

Went to a wedding recently and met up with a colleague from our SIA days, (mainline, no SIAC in those days).
He went from SIA to KAL on the -400. Yes everything as above but, he said, the cockpit and general working environment at SIA was better as was the proficiency of the FOs. Said that overall he regretted leaving SIA.

Sim Instructors
I know it's a completely different organisation, but are the Sim Instructors staying at same hotel than the expat pilots?
How is downtown Seoul for a night out?
Thanks!

I am interviewing for the B737NG captains position at KAL, what are some of the routes that the B737 flies to? During your 20 days at work, do they pay for the hotel even in Seoul? So they give you 9 days off + 2 commuting days, is that on top of the 24 days of annual leave?
Thanks

a question if I may.
Whilst exaggerating to make the point I have always assumed the long haul guys would spend very little time in Seoul whereas the 73NG being short(er) haul would spend a lot of time in Seoul ie in a 20 day roster period a 74 guy might spend 4/5 nights in Seoul and a 73 guy 19/20.
Any info on how wrong (or right) my assumption has been??

KAL
Hi guys,
Don't mean to hijack the thread but I just wanted to ask if it's worth going through an agency or sending my resume' directly to their operations centre and hope it get's noticed.
Can I request any info to where I should send my resume as all I can see in their website is the address for their operations or can you recommend any good agency.
Thanks

Rating required, of course.
Turbine time?????
Mate, you need to take a deep breath and wait a few more years.
Minimums for F/Os?
Don't know, but contacting one of the agencies would help answer that one.
Gap is [email protected]
CCL is [email protected]
Rishworth is [email protected]

Dear galdian
I've been looking for a chance to get the right info since you asked that question, but I have no chance to fly with Expat captains. As far as I know, your assumption about the stay in Seoul is close to the reality.
