Flights affected after AirAsia plane mishap
KOTA BARU: Three flights were affected after an AirAsia plane veered off the runway at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport here and was stranded.
The flight AK6329 was taking off for the KL International Airport (KLIA) at about 10.40pm yesterday when its front and right wheels strayed onto the grass.
There were 89 passengers on the plane but no casualties were reported.
Following the incident, two MAS flights were also affected.
MH1426, which was coming from KLIA and scheduled to land at 11.30pm, was diverted back to KLIA.
MH1427, scheduled to take off at 6.45am today for KLIA, has been cancelled.
The three flights involved a total of 227 passengers.
Malaysia Airports Bhd Kelantan manager Mohd Ariff Jaafar, who confirmed the incident, said fortunately nobody was injured.
This is the first time such an incident has happened at the airport here since it opened in 2003, he added.

Is it just me or does AirAsia seem to have a peculiarly high rate of off taxiway/runway adventures. Seems like it's not uncommon to hear about an Airbus sliding off the runway or taxxing into the mud.

Well the strange thing is that had it been MAS or any other airline the news would have been splashed all over the front page of the papers. I guess tony has really got to the press. Shame shame on the gutless Malaysian press, definatly double standards!!!!! Also, heard that the DFO Mr A.J was a flight attendant so I guess rather than taxi training AA captains pour a mean coffee?

Yes Mastake you are right yet again I withdraw that last comment unilaterally.
Flight attendants do make great DFO's and AA Captains do not pour great coffee. They have to buy it on board !!!!!
Happy holidays...............................

Would be interesting to know just how many runway excursions Air Asia have had in the past two years. By my reckoning it must be at least six. I heard a little whisper that they have had 3 MORs filed in that period. I guess that says it all. Three monkeys. I heard nothing, I heard nothing, I heard nothing.
If you value your life keep away from all LCC in SE Asia - at least those in malaysia and Indonesia. In fact, amend that. Keep away from all Indonesian carriers full stop. AA dont appear to be any better. Just think what they'll manage to do when they have lots of 320s instead of the relatively simple 300.

a few incidents dont make an airline bad. mel are enforced because they can be, we are all pilots here ,lets not bitch about an airline which employs a lot of pilots. for those who dont think it is safe should get out.plenty of options today . and all the so called pressure from management is self created. i dont work for airasia and am not a management pilot.
