Is O level a must for SIA CADET pilot?
I am new in this forum. I am a little confuse by the adtivestment of the cadet pilot in SIA and SIAcargo web. The SIAcargo one said one must have a O level result, but the SIA one just said the applicant need O level or diploma or degree.
I do not have any O level or A level. I got a diploma from one of the polytechnic. i also get a degree. I already submit my application form Mid June. Is there any chance i will get call for the first interview?

Hi, dumpenator
I am Singaporean. I migration to Singapore for 10 years. I am 28 by next birthday. I have been working for the past five year. I got all the information about the Cadet stuff from one of my client, who is a SAF pilot. He encourage me to go for it. I always have a dream to fly. I have a bone to serve for the Government. I guess it is just the right time for me now to try my best to get in the SIA cadet program.
Thanks

Hi Forza ... I was at the interview too.
It stated 25.5yrs old on the application.
I guess because u were born in 1980 thats why they let u thru the interview. But I guess they will wait a few months first.
I am grounded, i did pretty badly.
Anyway, 40+ ppl went for the interview today.
For those sending application by email, I just type my name on the signature line. I think most important is the photograph.

Hi mx2008,
I send mine via email on mid june also, got the reply in 15 days.
Abstract from :
Air Line Association Singapore
link -> http://www.alpas.org/page.php?id=5
Is there a minimum age to be a pilot?
The minimum age is laid down in the requirements for the issue of a professional pilots licence found in SASP2. However Singaporeans who wish to enter the profession as an Airline Pilot will have to be at least 26 years of age at the point of application. This is a restriction imposed on Singaporeans by the Government to ensure the Air Force has its ready pool of applicants amongst our limited talent pool. This does not apply if you are not a Singaporean.
Currently, i believed the age is reduced to 25.5yrs

Lorads, yup. I send the application with my jpeg signature. Do remember to fill it all information at your best ability and not to leave out any details.
Don't forget, they recieve lots of applications so if your's is incomplete, it may not be good.

MingXing:
If you did not have any 'O' Levels or it's equivalent, chances are, you will not be considered. Your application will be rejected at the first screening simply because you did not meet the requirements.
As a note to all; 'O' Levels is a MUST, as it is used as a gauge to determine if you're suited for this job. Having an honours degree or even Masters means nothing if you do not have 'O' Levels. The rationale is that during your 'O' Levels, the candidate has to take a variety of subjects ranging from science to humanities, and the results will show how well the candidate copes with varying interests. Having a degree which is specialised may mean only you're good in that particular field, nothing else.
Also, you may not get a rejection letter, but keep your fingers crossed. As mentioned by Ambit, incomplete or applications that do not meet the requirements will be rejected during the first screening. This screening is not even a selection; it just filters those who meet the criteria or not.
