Orient-Thai Airlines

An airline calling themselves Orient Thai airlines have just posted an ad on Climbto350.com for B757 pilots, pay is Captains $4500/month, FO's $2500.

Sorry I took a while getting this "good news" passed on, but I was rolling around on the floor laughing at the salary for the past hour.

If anyone has any more news about them, please pass it on.

Skibeagle will be surprised to hear Orient Thai has employed many Americans and Canadians with international experience in the past. (Some ex DL)

My guess is that they will have more applications than positions. A position in Thailand with the fringe benefits and lifestyle is highly desirable, regardless of the salary.

Hi B772,
Took the words right out of my mouth. 45oo usd is about 180,000 thai baht if I am not to wrong. Dont think I could spend that quick enough even in Pattaya.
Regards.

Salaries paid are proportional to supply and demand.
Had a conversation with a 31 year old MAS 777 captain who had built his time with them and spoke highly of them.
So you are competing in the local market.

Angel

Just back from a few days in Bangkok. I'd gladly pay US$4500 a month for full time access to a Bangkok lifestyle

Jim Morehead,

They are not new, nor are the guys to whom they still owe past pay.
Beware.

411A...I am not interested in them ,but just being able to know who they are.

When somebody decides to start a new company, you need capital and lots of luck.

Just because someone has grandiose ideas doesn't mean people will rush out and buy tickets. More little guys fail than succeed.

Orient Thai has grown tremendously in the past few years. It now operates 4 747-200s, 4 L1011s and 2 757s. The 757 is for the new start up outfit call "1-2-GO!" So far they have already signed and flown Japan - Siem Reap (Ankor Wat) run on a one year contract.

I used to work for them and they owe me nothing, even got all my bond money back (direct deposited while I was in ground school for another outfit) without even asking. Different stroke for different folks, I fulfilled my contract and he (Udom) fulfilled his. Don't know if 411A ever worked for him but I have.

On the nose in regards to BKK life style. You can live real well for $4500/mo. If you are unattached and have no huge mortgage back home, it is the closest thing to paradise. People are lining up out the door to work for Udom's low wages. No illusions here folks. I'm back with a 121 outfit now a little bit older and wiser but still live in BKK.

"Forty five hundred bucks! Man, that's a lot of money. See you guys down in Soi Cowboy."

Well, I have to agree again with Flame Out - Udom has never missed paying anyone since I have been flying for him.

I work for them, have another 757 arriving from Montreal next week. BE is a good man to work for, money is OK especially in BKK. Need 747 people (not lightweights)

I am the New Kid on the block so probably not, but you never know. I enjoy spending a couple days at a time in Jeddah. Lots of memories there. You are correct about two planes coming to Pakistan. I don't know which ones, I'll be returning to BKK with the 757 out of Montreal hopefully next week

There's a story in the Chinese press this morning that one of their planes lost a panel in flight - anyone got any details?

Cool

It not the first and it won't be the last. Don't let the nice paint job fool you. Been there and done it.

I think I saw the airplane in HKG today when I was there for an hour. Didn't see anything unusual,so they may have fixed it. But they were looking at the #3 engine as the cowling was open.
