Hi RNP2,

What could they ask in indian climatology? Also, please advise what to prepare for CRM?

Thanks.

RNP2 30th Jan 2014 18:00

I was asked to talk about the indian monsoons,so they may ask you questions like this.just get an idea as to what crm is and that should be good enough.
A friend of mine was asked as to what crm is and how it benefits an airline.

Anybody have an idea as to what they do in the medicals ? ( just in case if the 3rd day they decide to conduct the medical)

1. Is it a dgca type examination ? if so is it less or more intensive?

2. Do they have any endurance type tests ? like making you run etc ?

Thanks .

Ps. no i am not getting ahead of myself , just curious :)

Interview:

My interview lasted for about 45 mins. HR questions were: About yourself, Why flying as a career, why Jet Airways, they asked me about my non-flying job, etc.
Flying related: TORA/TODA/ASDA,etc, Induced Drag, Various methods to reduce induced drag, Winglets, why 777 don't have winglets but 747's do, RVSM, how flaps work, types of flaps and how they affect the aerodynamics, types of entries into a hold, V1, V2, etc speeds, I was given an enroute chart and asked to explain the entire route from Delhi to Lucknow.
In the beginning I was asked which subject I had prepared the best.

I wore a suit with tie. A shirt and tie is well accepted but make sure you were a light coloured shirt, preferably White. Socks should be the same colour as your trousers, preferably black.

IPT:

I was given a VECC 01 (Can't remember L or R) VOR/DME chart about half an hour before the test to go through and asked questions based on the chart.
T/O on auto pilot and once airborne asked to fly a specific heading, then intercept a couple of outbound radials, then a couple of inbound radials, entry into the hold, 2 holds, and then as per the published procedure fly outbound and intercept finals for the VOR/DME approach.
Charts will be given, study them inside out. Read the jeppessen manual and know each and every symbol.

Please practice DME Arcs, ILS/DME approaches, NDB approaches and intercepts, Missed approach procedures. Just to make sure you know everything.

Medicals:

Following are the blood & urine tests you've to do:
1. CBC
2. Liver Function Test
3. Prothrombin Time Test
4. Fasting Blood & Urine
5. Post Sugar Blood & Urine ( 2 hrs after consuming 75 gms of glucose, you can't eat anything in between)
6. Urine Routine
7. Stool Routine
8. Lipid Profile

Other than this, you've to do Stress Test (on the treadmill), Opthal, ENT, Audiometry, Chest X-ray & General Physical.
If there are any abnormalities, you'll be asked to repeat the test again with certain instructions.

Hope it helps.

INTERVIEW

Hi frnds
any idea how many vacancies and how many cleared the GD round ??
I know this actually doesnt matter as they will allow the best to proceed but still i wanted to know....
if any info plz share.... thanks

cyrilroy21 1st Feb 2014 18:15

@FL 500

According to various rumours the number of pilots required are pretty huge
( a 3 digit number < 500 )

Reverb_SR71 2nd Feb 2014 05:50

@Cyril

A three digit number ?? hmmm from what i have heard there are still Type Rated candidates in various stages of inductment , suppy etc and the 2011 guys have not even been sent for their TR . I wonder why they need so many pilots . . .

cyrilroy21 2nd Feb 2014 08:02

Two words

Training Capacity

There is no room to train all these candidates in one go and they lack the necessary TRI / TRE as well
Thats the reason why they are recruiting expat pilots on all fleets . There are not enough captains
Sim slots are the biggest issue considering there are about 100 or more candidates from the 2011 recruitment alone

Only if you have the training capacity in place can you hire and train so many pilots

I wonder why they need so many pilots . . .
Huge expansion plans ofcourse through their new hub in Abu Dhabi . Most of their 777 fleet on lease is coming back into the Jet Airways fleet
On top of that they will be using the 737 for more night flights into Abu Dhabi from various Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India

In order to fill pilots on the 777 you need to upgrade them from the 330 or the 737 fleet . But before doing that you need to have an adequate number of pilots ( both captains and FO's ) trained and ready to take over on the 737 / 330 fleet

Some 737 pilots will be upgraded to FO's on the 777 and some FO's will be upgraded to Captains

Since the 777 will be flying long haul the number of pilots per airplane can be as high as 30 per aircraft compared to the 10-14 on the 737

My theoretical estimate based on the 100 expat captains that Jet wanted to hire on the 777 fleet would result in about 300 co pilot vacancies
I have a feeling that the vacancies will be much higher....

All in all good news for the unemployed CPL holders :)

Reverb_SR71 2nd Feb 2014 13:00

@ Cyril

hmm your explanation seems to justify the need for new pilots , definitely a good news . :ok:

One question though, is the training done in Mumbai ? I was under the impression they send their pilots off to some TR center , iv'e heard of Alpha Aviation in UK etc . So if it really is the lack of TR facilities they can tie up with other facilities maybe like CAE or something , there are a ton of them. . . .

juliet.alpha.yankee 7th Feb 2014 15:31

So,, the interviews start this monday.

All the best to all the fellow aviators who are going to appear for the same.

Please share your experiences after the interview and IPT.

LOC-D 18th Feb 2014 16:11

Since a lot of people seem to be getting asked question about Jeppesen IFR plates/charts, I'd recommend this website.

Jeppesen Chart Clinic

On it, he's posted all articles of the Jeppesen Chart Clinic. It's excellent reading material. This does not just explain the legend like the basic Jepp guide but goes into detail about different aspects of the plates, why certain things are represented on it, why is terrain shaded in different colors etc, just to name a few examples. It's a good refresher for Jeppesen related stuff.

All the best to you guys/girls attending the interview http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ons/icon14.gif

juliet.alpha.yankee 19th Feb 2014 07:42
