when you say "study from oxford"

do you use the free pdf set that is available on torrents?
If yes, then are those 1st edition(2002) books good enough for the Indigo Test? or do u really need the latest 5th/6th edition(1011) for it?

Please reply.

CLEARED!!!

Hi All!!

I appeared for the exam on 26th and cleared!!!

Il try to recollect the question and post it here in a couple of days....

Even though I didnt study as hard as the guys have mentioned here...I found the exam EASY!!! :bored:

The only thing was the time!! You really have to rush.. We had 2hrs for 100 questions and by the end of the 1st hour I was on the 37th question only.. :uhoh:

So i had to rush through the wholle of 2nd hour.... :ugh:

As always they dint ask jet or any other type of engine, only basic nav, met, regs, radio aids stuff. As for the human performance if you just do the last 6 question papers (the summary papers) you dont need to go through the whole book.

and if possible increase solving speed (atleast more than me)

will post the topics asked in the exam in a couple of days

Cheers :)

ShivamSaxena 27th Apr 2011 16:34

thanks, will do - any idea if the exams are being held almost everymonth ? i think i'd rather take some time off, hit the books for a month or two then give the exams than attempting it and becoming ineligible for 6 months

cheers,

ShivamSaxena 29th Apr 2011 05:27

I couldn't recollect all the questions, so i am writing the topics

Regs:
  • most of it was general, DGCA stuff, squak code, type of transponder, class 'B' VFR above 10,000MSL etc.

Met
  • Find height of tropopause from charts (that you cant read!)
  • Lapse rate questions
  • A/C flying south in southern hemi with stbd drift, which pressure is it flying into?
  • What is pressure alt?
  • when are pressure alt n density alt same?
  • Surprisingly no metar or taf questions

Human Performance
  • Stress
  • Rate of acohol consumption in body
  • Middle and inner ear related questions
  • Eye questions including fovea and rods

Nav
  • Diagrams of AH and you have to identify the one with the given condition
  • Altimeter numericals
  • flying from A to B, speed 0.84M. Distance 300nm, you have to increase your ETA by 2min, when will you decrease your speed? Previous ETA was given
  • Speed/Time problems
  • Gyro
  • Local time numericals

Tech
  • AOA questions
  • nothing too hard, almost same as the Jet exam except there were no jet engine questions

Sorry I can recollect only this much right now

duddysingh 29th Apr 2011 06:42

yes the exams are being organised on a monthly basis around the 25-29 of every month. They were held in march end then april end, and i think they will be conducted again in may end(though i dont have any proof to back it up, but im just considering the recent exam pattern).
And yes, I think studying for a month and then applying for it would increase the chances of clearing it but only if the exam is conducted in a fair manner(not saying if it is fair or not).
BEST OF LUCK TO You!!!:ok:

flight517 29th Apr 2011 07:39

@sonsal

Thank you for the questions, i must say that you have done a great job in compiling the question bank.:D
Did you manage to clear the exam??

yash 29th Apr 2011 09:38

There is a 6 months cool down period before you can appear again so anyhow you get plenty of time to study hard .

aadityaslg 29th Apr 2011 10:15

There has been so much discussion in this thread, but there is hardly any mention of the GD and the Interview that follows the written test.

Please put in your inputs.. I am not asking this to help myself, inf act I have never appeared for the Indigo test.
