14182, are you talking about the skill assessment for MPL? sounds so much more complicated than the aptitude test for CPL..

14182 19th Feb 2012 23:02

Yap, SA for MPL, it's conducted by OAA, so quite a lot of things going on.

Thank you for sharing 14182, really appreciate it.. I'm preparing myself for the initial interview.. I think it'll be similar to 'the Day2 interview' on your post?

14182 20th Feb 2012 15:55

Interviewers for the skills assessment are generally nice, but the KA initial interview, they are looking to grill you and break you down completely, so to make sure you're fit for the job! :} but still, they just general personal questions, but be prepared to have yourself pinned down during the interview.

So they're gonna test my EQ.. ;)

If I could put up with my mom, this really is a piece of cake :E

Hi guys,

I'm from Europe and fly on the 737 as FO, almost 4000 hours.

How's going Dragonair financial and general situation?

Is it worth to leave a permanent contract here (without career growth) to move to Asia?

And Then 24th Feb 2012 00:09

You will NEVER get a Command in Dragonair. That is my opinion and I'll back it up with a bet when you get here.

How many aircraft does KA need for you to get your command? I doubt if HKG airport could cope with a KA fleet that has doubled. Remember, KA captains are young and retirement age 65 now and could increase.

Do remember, in regards to economic downturns, America, Europe and Asia next? There will inevitably be an economic crisis in China and that will smash those at the bottom who will probably be made redundant.

Last on first off.No more deals with the company when it happens again to preserve C scale pilots.

anyone knows the status of PQX here?

i have just got enough hours and waiting for the reply from them...

14182 25th Feb 2012 06:31

Not going too much useful info, but the most recent batch of the PQ cadets will depart very soon, but this time round, not Adelaide FTA, but Southampton CTC instead.

They are adding an extra round of group exercise + interview conducted by Southampton CTC on top of KA's own screening process. :ugh:

I know one who belongs to this programme, but that's all I know so far.

Regarding the MPL2 first interview,

I was interviewed by 3 ladies, and they were not as harsh as what you mentioned.

Just some personal questions which you can prepare for, one scenario question, and some basic technical questions that could be handled easily if you are an aviation enthusiast.

what kind of technical questions Anson? thought it was a general interview.. didn't prepare for anything technical at all...

14182 27th Feb 2012 08:07

Well then that's all good! All the best with the rest of the selection!!!

going for the ICAO English test 14182.. Have to meet level 4 in order to pass? is it gonna be stressful? easy to handle?

14182 1st Mar 2012 12:54

Yap, level 4, shouldn't be too hard at all. I mean, it's just some basic english conversations, and shouldn't find it stressful at all. :ok: Seriously, this wouldn't be a stage that applicants worry, you may want to prepare for the skills assessment, since they may give you a call the day after your ICAO and schedule you an assessment next week...well that's what I had last time round :}

PC to fly 1st Mar 2012 14:58

I'm preparing for that too... ur post about the skill assessment makes me worried...

14182 2nd Mar 2012 10:51

Just an update, the skills assessment should be around May:ok:

Madp1lot 2nd Mar 2012 14:08

Just got emailed to show at AMS for an interview (First Officer Initial Interview).
Anyone knows what to expect? from what I read, its mainly a bit of a chat with tricky questions, test emotional reaction mainly. But even so, you can never be over-prepared...

I've also been trying to get some extra info, but didn't managed it so far.. does anyone know how's a typical KA rooster? and do anyone know if the rooster let's you live across the river... so kind of commuting?

Thanks if you can help :)

Hi there....just passed Initial Interview in London last Month...2 person there...asking mainly, about personal situation, why Dragon Air,....you need to know about the company, they will ask you.

About living in Hong Kong, how would you fit there with diff cultures, weather, crowdy places....etc etc etc....Nothing technical, but you can expect some questions about your flying experience and also being put down by this British guy who plays a bit of a smart ass....but thatīs a way to see your reactions and.....just be nice and respectful.
I would suggest you being the Hong Kong lover for them...willing to live there for a Long period of time. I īve got the feeling thatīs what they want.....

Donīt forget a nice and smart tie and jacket.:ok:

Hope it helps.....anyway never is a bad Idea to be updated with general ATPL knowledge.....:D

Good Luck!!!
