With the kind of negativity and cynism prevailing in Indian aviation , this kind of reply was totally expected .

and as far as general knowledge/IQ exam goes , all the defence related bodies in India do make sure that the candidate is well informed about the country and the world , be it the IAF , ARMY, NAVY , COAST GUARD .
And , RAW is no different and the GK/IQ exam was fully justified.

and probably you are right nothing will change until blood is shed ... and that is why i said i hope they dont give us an opportunity to "question " them .... because if they do ... some of us will surely try to "shed some blood" ...but the point I am trying to make is that will all the other pilots who appeared for the exam support this kind of initiative?? The answer is a straight NO.

And since you call India a circus , I am very curious to know if you are an INDIAN

ssietbunny 26th Oct 2009 13:53

yes with this kind of negativity and cynicism... some people will point fingers even if candidates get selected in a fair manner.that in fact will never stop. no end of disscussion too and there wud be no end to this finger pointing too...as it is only humans have the finger pointing capability :}

over all the paper was very well justified(personally din expect turbine questions though). GK ws current,IQ well enuff to wht is required fr a pilot selection.though some people who have given bank/mba/cat/gmat exams might find it easier. General English good enough and tricky(me too think did a few mistakes :P).

PS :Negative marking of half marks :ugh:
1 mk question correct u get 1 mk... wrong u lose 1.5/ similarly 2 mk fr right and lose 3 mks fr wrong(out of total attempted).... dont know how are they going to allot marks for subjective(mks fr steps too just like in school days:) )... rest wont mind anyone telling this to be thinking too much or crap! kudos !

AvNavCom 26th Oct 2009 14:16

Bunny i think what they meant with the -ve marking of half a mark was deduction of .5 marks .....
the paper was ok could have been better but then again its an individual opinion....
the instructions made for an interesting read -
1> all questions are compulsory
2> questions cary -ve marks
funny :E

ssietbunny 30th Oct 2009 09:19

2/3 months.. long time..phew!

Any idea how many are expected to be called fr interview fr 5 General category seats? Have seen other govt exams calling with a ratio of 1:5 that is around 25.

And the admit card said anyone meeting their standard in written exam would be called...and what could that be:ugh:

yash 30th Oct 2009 10:02

Guys guys guys....
Cabinet secretariat is ARC (aviation research center) applying for vacancies..
ARC is indian spy agency's surveillance program...
Dont get too excited,,, you start off with B200's and later on you get onto a gulfstream or so...
The bond's 15 years...and very less flying..
Have fun folks..
p.s. - i hope none of you guys have a police track record...They do a very thorough background check..

WOW99 22nd Nov 2009 16:19

:ok:
First if u get selected for ARC you surely must have a huge jack wid ARC,RAW,IB,IAF,ARMY,NAVY,without it i dont think anyone would be selected as is the tradition.

FixedReserve 23rd Nov 2009 15:09

Draxis - "Dont get too excited,,, you start off with B200's and later on you get onto a gulfstream or so..."

What's not so exciting about a Kingair or Gulfstream?

FR

draxis 23rd Nov 2009 16:32

@ Fixed Reserve - You misunderstand me...
From the above posts i gather some people are expecting to fly high altitude Mig 25 foxbats with ARC....Unfortunately they have been de-commissioned(Nothing beats satellite view:})..
The B200's are fine so long as you get to fly them...Which going by the account of last year's ARC recruits is going at a snail's pace....7 F/o's and 2 captains...
Cheerio
fly high
piss straight:}

ssietbunny 11th Dec 2009 16:02
