cabinet secreteriat trainee pilots exam
 
hi,
an exam for the selection of trainee pilots is supposed to be held on 25th of oct...

the number of total seats is 11
of which 6 are reserved,..
5 for general category

didn't get my letter still...:ugh: this is one exam which could be fair and square i dont want to miss this.. im not from delhi maybe itll take time since they might be sending the response through registered post ... anyone who is not a delhiite and has got a confirmation for the exam yet??.

the exaam is on 25th OCT there are 2 papers the first one will professional subjects ie all our avaition subjects duration is 2 hours , so i'm guessing that there could be a lot of numericals too. the second paper is general english , GK and IQ for 2 hours .

i submitted my application on the last date 3 hrs before closing.. and where the postman put my application ws a box(as i gave him by hand in main office).. which i don think cud hold 850 applications.. shd be much lesser... neways...do well!:ok:

im from lucknow u.p.. and after all the dgca hassles for 3 years .. ive become seasoned with attestation and stuff:} so pretty much no problemo on that front i have my fingers crossed if nothing comes up well practically i cant do anything but move on what else?.. since the application could not have been couriered i fear that the 5 rs stamp application took more time than needed and bhartiya daak seva proved useless

So you mean to say that the box cant hold 800 applications and rest of the applications were ashtray.:rolleyes:

The applications are removed periodically from the box they dont wait for the last date for the post box to over flow.

Apply some logic dont just shoot s###.

well about the call letters ,everyone has been called upon who fits in the criteria of INDIAN CPL and FRTOL.

Letters were dispatched on Tue Wed Thurs respectively by 5 Rs stamp pasted on the LIFAFA.And people will get the call letters depending on the date of dispatch.However date on the application would be 18th or 17 or 19th depending upon when the letters were signed by the cncerned authority.

Got to know that a lot of people had applied without having Indian Licence or with their foreign CPL, so obviously those would have been rejected.

Does anyone have any idea as to what to expect at the exam and how should one go about preparing for it.

well i got my license in may so.. pure bad luck if i don't get the admit card... and kartik.subramaniam spoke about air force requiring pilots for transport category ii checked it up as i can recall they want guys with b.e or btech and this there is no relaxation for eyesight ... i have -.75 power in the left one should try baba ramdev's yoga fr that.. missed coast guard cos' of the eyesight.. missed the air force and nd now no admit card for cabin secretariat...
i dont know if this is the place to discuss all this but is there anyone who is giving C.AT. for mba this year??
...im in my 2nd year so will have to wait til next year for that until than hope the winds of change blow
i used to think it would be blasphemous to think about mba or degree after spending on the cpl but that was an year back.. the slump has mellowed all of us down.. the shahrukhans are extinct and as many seniors might observe now the 250 hr wonders now know their place... as someone suggested we have 4 decades of aviation waiting for us if we persevere ..
i know i ranted nd went of the topic.. but just felt like venting.. xcuse the misplaced content of this post

tushar, you are most likely to get your admit card in a day or two, no reason why they should reject you! Give them a call if possible. Airforce and coast guard, why would you want to join that? You'll be stuck there for years, with low pay and not get that many flying hours. Doing a CFI rating is a better option.

Getting an MBA also sounds like a plan..unless/ until you get a civilian flying job. Hopefully something interesting comes up by next year.

guys this job is not related to air force ..
and also i guess u might be asked to sign a bond for atleast 5-7 years for sure..
i think this could be one high profile job dealing with the national interests..

the job has same pay and perks as of officers in air force..only the work profile diffrentiatiing it but still the the department functions closely wid indian air force.(PS: suggest not takin names in this international community :))

i know this will sound bizarre but i am not a huge airline job fan... in circumstances that i find myself in...i.e. paucity of funds(to fund an fi rating which in canada will cost 10k cad atleast and work visa hassles).. lack of connections in aviation(jugaad) i am really not a chooser so any flying job is a good job
i know 6 seats and x no. of applicants people start doing their math... after months of sitting idle i see this exam as a test to examine my caliber...after the air india f.o selection fiasco i expect this one to be fair so i have my hopes pinned on this one..
@ cocochanel i respect your opinion when you speak of a low wages and low flying hours but think of it when the next wave of vacancies come up which i doubt will.. how will i stand a chance with 250 hours
even if it is lets say a 5 year bond guys in coast guard could get enough hours on the dornier 228 they'll be flying,than they have umpteen options open.. so for guys in my situation its really not much of an option.. and i am not counting national pride in this thats another debatable issue

@bunny -i think i have a slight idea what the selection is for plus the possible terms and conditions of the bond.. the concerned authorities would have taken good care to make it confidential

tushar...what I meant was for you to move on...since airforce and coast guard jobs are obviously out as far as your admissions are concerned, don't look back and regret not being in it, obviously those jobs were not meant for you, something better will surely come up in the future.

This cabinet thingy sounds good...so let's hope for that admit card. And if the cabinet thing does not work out, then no big deal, some other opportunities will come up, aviation related or not, for now. You are still just starting out....so many other options still open for you after your bachelor's degree.

As for 10k canadian, it's not that hard to get once you get your degree and start working , you can use it for time building to 200 pic and then apply for an afi job...and still get your flying hours.

My point is. think positive, think of alternatives, solutions...

thanks coco:ok:.. i welcome your point of you and have already accepted it as an alternate.. i have heard a lot of survival stories in aviation.."had to wait for 6 years..cabin crew for years" etc as much as i dont want to be in one myself:( i have accepted the facts on face value.. the days of basking in the glory of my shiny new cpl are over.. even my family has realized there is no point fretting over it.. thats why the plan to appear for CAT next year..hopefully i land myself a job before that:p
as for the afi job in India.. the instructor rating has become another money making gimmick in the flying clubs.. a lot of guys with afi rating have been roaming jobless..its amazing how so many new flying clubs are mushrooming all across the country despite the slowdown bt thats another story pls dont mistake this for cynicism or lack of humility im just being very realistic for myself:\

Guys any idea whether the Written exam is going to be subjective or objective ? because nowhere in instructions it says that. also few lines like.. :-

1. no cuttin erasing/using one color ink ... does indicate the test to be objective.

2. but also one of it says questions to be answered serially.... indicating it to be a written subjective test.!!!!!! :ugh:

prepare for it as if it is a subjective test. if they ask objective u got nothing to loose. but if you study for an objective test then u got a lot to loose. study all the aviation subjects. tech, regs, nav, met. and i think there is an english and logic paper also. though am not sure it was there about 10 years back. you will have a written exam followed by an interview. later on whatever happens let it happen.

and i dont want to dishearten you guys but apart from you becoming an officer in the central govt. and having associated perks from what i have heard from someone "you will end up transporting the wives of the air force officials". :D am sure not it is true but just what i heard. apart from it it is a very coveted job and you may after 10 or 15 years bond (or somewhere in between that) you may leave and could join dgca as an FID also.

Disclaimer: all information above is what i have heard from people. those people know what they were talking about. however, if something written above is not true then neither me nor them are responsible for any consequences.

once the engine starts, you think nothing of who or what is behind. its just you and the a/c. if you enjoy flying, it should not make a difference who or what you fly.

I totally agree with agent123.. moreover I heard that in the 15-20 years that you will spy/fly for RAW you will not be logging any flight hours.. so if you ever choose to come out of it or ever get kicked out... you will end up with only 200 hours in your log book..
For people who are obsessed with Govt. jobs and like becoming Govt. babus its great for them.. But I dont see any future in this.. I know there are not many opportunities in the aviation industry today.. But I guess its worth waiting for some more time...

Just my personal opinion..

Delhi is the only center for the exam.

and yes, that flight logging part written by flyjet787 is not entirely true.

First off, you cant be sure what exactly the profile of this particular job is.

It could just be some simple point A to B flying. You may never even know what or whom you are flying and for what purpose.

I also got to know that it could be for pilot jobs for govt. purposes (ie. nothing to do with the Intelligence Bureau)

If you are in any way involved in anything to do with RAW, IB, secret stuff, intelligence, spying etc, forget about changing jobs, rest assured, we will never ever hear from you again on pprune, facebook, or anywhere ! ... you will live under a different identity for the rest of your life and all of us here on PPrune can only speculate where you are or what you might be doing !!! :}

okiee,so i applied for the exam but i haven't received my hall ticket as yet,i meet all the eligibility requirements,does anyone think ive got a fair enough chance if i go for the exam on the 25th and submit another application..and yeah request them to allow me for the exam....what are my chances~?

I do have a photocopy of my application,do you think i should go for the exam and give it my shot,like in the case of coast guard examinations,one of frnd dint receive his admit card too,so he went for the exam anyway,and submitted an application form at the centre (on the day of the exam ),they let him take the exam...considering evn this is a govt based recruitment drv,what are my chances?!

And how often does the cabinet recruit trainee pilots anyway!?

sure it was. two papers : paper 1.professional subject covering all aviation topics having objective questions and subjective numericals, paper 2. Gen Eng/Gen Awareness/IQ test.guess around 300 appeared(didnt count though :p).

Any Idea how long the wait is going to be before the result/call is being made to selected candidates. request follow up from the experienced/information holders....!

yeah it was interesting . few questions were tricky too .....
and i asked a person about the result .. he said approximately 2 months ... and asked him if the process that will take place hence will be fair or not :} ... he got offended n told me that he caught six people cheating and will cancel their answer sheets :D....
so i hope they dont give us an opportunity to question them

I guess we're going to see more and more new "probationary Prune" accounts coming up !!!

The best word I can think of to describe this exam was STUPID.

The technical part was OK .. similar to DGCA.
The Gen Knowledge/IQ test was crappy !!!

If this is how candidates are going to be filtered, then it explains the state of affairs of our bureaucracy and various other departments !!!

Any thief/crook/politician caught and interrogated will obviously say that he/she is innocent and that it is the work of someone with vested interests !!! What makes you think this examination invigilator is going to be extra honest with you ???
Stop being naive .. the only time we can EVER see any kind of change in this circus called INDIA is when some blood is shed.
Till then we'll just have riff raffs venting out on internet forums and back stabbing their friends/pals in real life.
