congratulations!! enjoy your free trip :ok:

Aussie Indon 21st May 2008 06:53

Thanks Holdmetight!! :O

Ally, on the phone I was told there was going to be some tests, a panel interview and a medical, I guess it seems the same as long course phase two: http://www.flighttrainingadelaide.co...arship-welcome

TRAX testing
Personality Tests
Interview
Hong Kong CAD Medical

I asked what was entailed in the interview and she said "If I told you that would be cheating". So no luck there. From what I read from the other forums about Cathay recuitment you get asked the usual interview and personality questions plus some tech questions... I'll be struggling with those!!

takamasa, over the phone she told me I'll will flying up on the 1st, interview 2nd & 3rd and flying back that late night, so no real R&R for me.

PM if you want my details.

Good luck guys!!!

takamasa 22nd May 2008 03:10

hey, Aussie Indon

what's ur schedule in hk??

i only have 2 days interivew which is 3rd and 4th

u have 3 days??

i have received the e-mail from them and the schedule is really tight.

i can't imagine we have a lot to do in these days

Aussie Indon 22nd May 2008 06:47

takamasa

I received an email (along with a 60 page pdf file to study) last night saying I'll be leaving the morning of the 1st and arriving that night, then mon-tue interviews and flying back on tuesday night (3rd) at 11:30 pm arriving back on wednesday afternoon. I hoping the second day won't be a full on long day so I can possibly do some sight seeing that night before heading back. The email didn't state exactly what the itinerary is during the interview days just that I will have pick one up at the Hotel.

Cheers

Aussie Indon,

what kind of material does the 60-page pdf cover?

Aussie Indon 22nd May 2008 11:55

holdmetight

It's basically BAK but in the simplest form ie basic aerodynamics, flight instruments, meterology etc. It appears to be a copy of the document they give to potential Cathay Cadets with little or no flying experience before their interview. No real dramas, it's hardly CPL theory...

:ok:

takamasa 22nd May 2008 17:54

Aussie Indon

seems like we are not going to be interview on the same day.

mine is on 3,4.

i think i am pretty fortune coz i have at least one day to arrive and one day to sleep before i go home.

anyhow. we should still keep in touch

at least u can tell me what's happening on the first day.haha!!

i read it a few months back when i had my cadet interviews. just a tip, be sure to do lots of revision because they will ask you harder questions which should be based on the topics in that book. and last of all, RELAX. don't give yourself any more pressure, you have enough of that when you step into Cathay City!

best of luck! keep us posted:ok:

takamasa 26th May 2008 01:05

anyone going to bak to hk as well???

captainjumb0 26th May 2008 01:37

Dont Get Ur Hopes Up Wannabees

dont go up to hk unless u guys are fully ready... i went up but unfortunately never got through....... i studied a fair bit and read the JKB at least 5 times... and made some notes about it.... still wasnt good enough.... i couldnt believe it.....this friend of mine got through he told me he read it abuot 10 times..... made notes, got quizzed by a friend....

i thought i was doin okay at the start of the interview but then they asked me some specific things in the JKB that i just couldnt fully answer well under pressure, it was so embarrassing. i got drilled in the interview, came out feeling really bad...:ugh: (i hav like 200hrs as well....)
this guy that got through told me that he'd bought a book called handling the big jets or somethin and read it over a couple of times......

i was good at maths at school, and did some good study (i purchased numerous numerical practice questions.....) for the cx test.... i reckon i got around 20 or so correct answers..... but unfortunately this guy beat me again and got like 25 or so he reckons or more.....

the coordination was a killer, that guy that got it claims he did really well in that

lookin back i guess i just diddnt prepare enough.....

at least i got to go to hong kong and grab a free flight ey...

doubt they will ever want to c me again :ugh::(:(:(:(

No degree, im 18, some previous flying experience. had been accepted onto cp29, managed to get transfered, after more interviews and much visa paperwork.

Im on CXL1 (the long course instructors so...)

holdmetight 30th May 2008 12:42

bjbb,

out of curiosity...

did you sign a contract with Cathay when everything started?
how many of you are there in the long course?
are you guys given an allowance?
and do you wear the CX or FTA uniform?

just want to know how similar things are with the cadet courses!

cx252 30th May 2008 14:41

out of curiosity x 2 ;)

would you mind share why you chose FTA instructor course instead of CP29 ?

Flying High!:ok:
Cheers.

bjbb 2nd Jun 2008 12:03

well. No didnt sign CPP contract, heard about it before hand. Why i transfered. The opportunity to live in Australia for 5 years is pretty cool, plus i would say its more challanging to be an instructor, plus you get more actual flying in the left hand seat (around 3000 hours flying instead of 300 like a cadet) and where you really have to act upon what you feel through your ass. The expat package is obviously a massive cookie at the end and makes a huge difference over the long run. Take your pick really, everyone wants to live confortably, but seeing s we all have the same urge to fly then you could say money isnt everything...There are lots of reasons. Its only the first course so it was a risk but im younger than some and so could afford to take such a risk.

Allowance is 50 bucks per week.
7 people on course
5 who are aussie
2 who are pomms from hk
its al going well and is fun but hard work suprise suprise!

what stage is everyone at?

Kerropi 2nd Jun 2008 15:21

Bjbb,

How much is the allowance when you are qualified as an instructor?

K.

AiRBuS_380 2nd Jun 2008 17:04

Hi guys,

anyone knows if this is a yearly programme with intakes? i.e. will 2009 have such a programme again?

cheers

SkewedFlaps 3rd Jun 2008 06:53

hey airbus380, from what i've heard CXL2 will be the last long course for this year, however there is a short course doing interviews as we speak.

so yep, i'm pretty sure there will be long courses next year :}

holdmetight 3rd Jun 2008 07:59
