hi anwarhull,

there is nothing that you can do but wait. i think there is only one person handling cadet application (with the help of a few cadet awaiting course dates).

all the best:ok:

LearSIA 13th Feb 2007 02:46

I recently received an email from a friend who advised me about a course to be ran in Singapore on the second weekend in March. The purpose of the course is apparently to train people to get a higher score in the aptitude tests part of selection.

Is anybody else planning on attending or have any views on the benefits or effectivness of such a course.

NinerVictor 13th Feb 2007 05:12

There are many sections/categories of questions in the computerised aptitude tests. While some of these tests can be improved through practise, most of the others are somewhat a part of your personality, the way you think/analyse a problem etc and these attributes can't be improved significantly in a short period of time.

There are some questions like: Choose the number that fits the following sequence: 1 2 4 8 16 32, or Choose the picture that best fit the preceeding sequence of pictures. You can find samples of such questions from the National Library. Just look under MENSA quizes/puzzles.

While I can't comment on the benefits or effectiveness of the course that you mentioned, I'm sure it will be a good exposure to the kind of tests that you will be subjected to. Of course it also depends on how much $$$ it costs to attend this course.

Best wishes,

9V

Schedule of a typical pilot?

Hi guys i was wondering, assuming u fly for half a month clocking the maximum hours you can fly. What would u be required to do for the next half of the month? Do you go to an office to finiish some paperwork from 8am-5pm? Or do you stay at home to spend time with friends and family?

Merlinrabbi 17th Feb 2007 04:31

goondusamy,
if you are fortunate enough to be able to max out your flying hours, then the company cannot touch you but to let you go off and do whatever you want, the time is yours. :ok:

Can retry?

Hi there,
anyone ever been through all the cadet pilot interviews but was not selected? will re-application be considered? Anyone know what is the cut-off age?

graco 27th Feb 2007 00:19

Hi It_ is_fate,

Which stage of the interview are you referring to? If you are asking about the 1st stage interview, then I am one of them waiting for another chance. Once of my friend also fail the first round interview then he applied and now he is waiting to go to OBS in March but if you referring for your second round interview come tea party...from what I have read from this thread earlier posting you need to upgrade yourself in term of academics and such then you may be given a chance (others out there please correct me if I am wrong). How old are you by the way? If you don't mind me asking. Anyway bro, why not just apply and give it a try. All the best to you. :ok:

sunakel 28th Feb 2007 06:55

Re-apply

hi Graco,

I am oso waiting for second chance. i went for 1st interview Aug 2006. i appied again in Jan 27th. how about you? I will update you if i gotten any news. just wondering how come it takes so long.. everyday i am checking for email from SIA.. :ugh:

graco 28th Feb 2007 07:17

hi sunakel,

I reapplied in Dec 06..my first interview was in April 2006. The long wait is because there is a cooling period of 6 months before you could applied again. In the mean time why do more reading and learn as much as you can. Yup, thanks and I will do the same for you too mate. All the best and be patient.

cheers

Doctor turned pilot

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. Would like to get in touch with pilots, or pilots in training, who were formerly qualified doctors.

Pls drop me a private message. Would like to ask you people a few questions. Thank you

SIA Recruitment

Hi,

Anyone knows if there is a recruitment drive for cadet pilots this year? They had 1 last year, but I don't recall seeing any ads on it this year.
If anyone has any info, please reply. Thank you. :)

Merlinrabbi 2nd Mar 2007 05:45

hi latest update from me..

just came back from kl hotel niko just now...as i wrote this msg in 2.30 am...

really hard..got drill by 2 sia capt almost 1 hour....goshh..

i really thought before they will just ask my background and a little bit on sia history or fleet(did ask though)...but it was merely likely 2nd stage interviewing as the capt asked me alot all the technical stuffs(aileron....fly by wire concept..the difference between 747 and a380)..but the hardest part was as i defended on my judgment that nowaday all new aircraft is being controlled by computer the capt provoked me about the reliability of the computer itself...so there was a debated then between me and him..but in very professional way of course..ultimately the second capt took his turn and explain to me about the bonding system with sia and how much i have to pay within the period of boding years...last but not least the capt asked about my commitment(either i already marry or got gf..i said nil..hehhe)...then first capt urged me to learn swimming..that all folks..maybe i'll get to second stage then...

ArcachonTower 4th Mar 2007 06:31

gd luck anwar....

cheers
