Congrats Johnny!

That was fast reply from SIA!

I applied about mid-February, no news till now.

@Alchemist123: Thanks!

@camel79: I applied on 25/02, my interview is on the 18/03, which means I have three weeks. A friend of mine applied on the same day as I did, I have yet to check with him though.

@truefaith: I was totally stunned by the amazingly quick reply from SIA.

Btw, is everyone here about 26yrs old? I am kind of worried about it as I am not of government approved age yet.

I was wondering if those who have attended the interview recently could share their experiences. It would greatly assist the rest of us.

I am way over 26 years old. Probably, SIA look at my age too.

I have never heard of government approved age. Is there a government approved age before you can apply? Johhny632, if SIA likes you (being young), I think they will consider you. :)

Stallone 27th Feb 2011 15:34

as long as u're at least 25.5yrs old, you'll be fine..

SIA takes in 26-31yrs old.. anything younger and older, they won't take

Johnny632 27th Feb 2011 23:21

@truefaith: The government wants to retain the pool of potential pilots for the air force. As such, they only allow SQ to hire those of twenty-six years old and above.

@Stallone: Now that you mentioned it, I realized that the minimum age requirements is no longer there. It will be the end of the year before I turn 26.

From what I have learnt so far, the successful March candidates most probably will be enrolled in the May/June OBS. I would be 25.5 yrs by than.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

@Benny:
Thanks. The email callup for 1st interview came about 2 to 3 weeks after my application.

@Joseph:
Nope I'm not from RSAF. Haha...

@SoaringAhead:
Thanks for the info on NS ICT!

Vincent88 28th Feb 2011 01:29

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum too. Was so excited looking at all the posts.

I sent my application not long ago, received SIA's email 1 or 2 day after that. Going for an interview on 18th March, too.

Not sure what might happen, haha.

Congrats for those who got in and good luck for those who are attending interview and applying it. =)

Cheers,
Vincent

@ Soaring ahead
I am still in the wannabe stage :E...
All the best for your ATPL papers! Heard Navigation is a killer module!

@Johnny632
All the best for your interview mate! :ok:

Frankenstein 28th Feb 2011 07:21

@ Vincent88
Are you 24 and a Singaporean? Are you a RSAF pilot dropout? Is SIA taking in cadets below the age of 25.5?:D

Frankenstein 28th Feb 2011 07:26

Hi guys.

Do you all know which Australian VISA you will be holding when you get to Perth / Brisbane for flight training? Student VISA? Which subclass?

Thanks.

Oops...My age is just out of the range by fractional. :(

May be, that is reason I have not been selected.

I should have applied before I completed my studies.

Droste 28th Feb 2011 08:54

Query

May I know what is academic education background for you, guys?Or, does anybody know what is the average academic education background for successful applicants?

howl85 28th Feb 2011 11:45

Minimum diploma, mostly degree holders.....

Hate to burst your bubble but if you are not an RSAF pilot dropout, you will most prob not be called up until you are 2-3 mths shy of your 26 bday even if you pass all the interviews, be prepared to get a job first in the meantime while waiting.......:ok:

Johnny632 28th Feb 2011 12:06

Am wondering, how do you define RSAF pilot dropout?

Thansks! :)

howl85 28th Feb 2011 12:43

Went through the RSAF pilot selection process and got cut in one way or another....but ultimately final decision lies with the govt to release you to SIA before u turn 26.....:cool:

Vincent88 28th Feb 2011 13:46

Hi, don't get cheated by that "88". Eventually, some 1 already used the nick "Vincent", therefore I just add in some easily-remembered numbers at the back.

I am 24 and 6 months old, a Malaysian. Not a pilot dropout, just some one ordinary. =)

Stallone 28th Feb 2011 13:49

i was 25.5yrs old when i went for mine last July..

the eye thing is nt expensive, just below $18 at Raffles Medical clinic..

interview went well, answered well, but still got the rejection email from Edward 1wk later..

now i don't know what should i do to stand a better chance if i ever decide to reapply again

purplehearts 28th Feb 2011 15:15

Mind sharing your qualifications and background Stallone?
