What are the qualifications for guys that are getting interviews? I have 3000TT and am a FO on a 737 and have wide body (MD-11) time and haven't heard from them. I'd like to get on with CX.

I applied for a FO position but have been invited to interview for a Second Officer position in Hong Kong.

My question is what does the path from SO to FO look like and how long does it take?

I am currently a regional FO in the USA with 3000TT 1500 jet time

It takes about 2-3 years.

I don't get why they didn't invite you for a DEFO process.

I am a regional First Officer in the USA with about 2800TT. I have most of my time on props such as B1900D, DHC-8(Type Rating). I have been invited with Cathay Pacific for the Second Officer position. If someone can please tell me on what materials and books to use for preparation for the written portion of the interview. I have been hearing two books such as ACE THE TECHNICAL PILOT INTERVIEW and Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators. If someone who has successfully gone through this interview process, would recommend which book is good. And also as a SO, what is a typical fleet like, schedule like and how is the training like. Thank you,

I believe you need something like 500 hours on turboprop or jet aircraft weighing more than 20 tons to be eligible for a DEFO position.

Hello pilots,
I have applied to CX AE program this early July. Would anyone be generous enough to shed a light of what interview questions were asked (technical + personal)?

Also, what is the current salary package for SO? Thx

BTEAM

Hi BTEAM, I applied last year and received an invitation for the next 09JUL2017 in HK for second officer Transition. I have no idea about the questions, but the first day I will have a couple of exams such as Technical, Math, SIM (748) and Interview. If I pass 1st day I will have medical check next day and another interview. I will let you know what kind of questions you may have.

Regards

guishe45,

Thank you for sharing the info. if I may ask, how many hours do you have? I just like to have an idea of the number of hours that Cathay would consider taking if I apply through transition in the near future.

For myself, I am just fresh out of college meeting all the minimum requirements of AE program. I am currently holding onto a slight hope that Cathay is recruiting second officers via advanced entry this year.

Anyways, all the best and hope you nail the exams and interview.

BTeam - Forget about the AE stream. It's gone and it won't be coming back anytime soon. Better to look at somwhere else.

Hello,

1.If the person will pass both (first and second) day of final interview when he could expect the positive/negative (by email or phone call?) answer and
2.when usually the person starts the SO program after the positive CX decision?
Thanks a lot..

Hi, I was in CX at the end of November for an SO assessment.
Its pity but after day one I have got negative answer.
My feedback is very positive. Environment very relaxed.
Team building half an hour exercises. A situation about a company in some place which are looking for proper manager with proper requirements. And list of possible managers are given. In 10 min you and your classmate must cooperate and find the bets manager for this position. After 10 min explain why?
Next one: atpl questions. Given time and some atpl questions from huge database. There is no to explain.
SIM test. 777-300ER. Nice one In the cockpit like from a roof of skyscraper normal take off, left, right, step turn. Ils aproach, go around, one engine failure, simple 3 steeps call out: left engine failure-confirm, left power lever idle-confirm, left master switch off-off confirm (or not-my instructor touched right master s.off)
Everybody are relaxed, no rush. The girs from Talent team are very nice. SIM instructors acts like in the beech, smile and relaxed.
My classmate from UK passed day first. Dont know about next day. Must to ask
I have total 2000hrs. Mostry with L-410 and An-2, in military.
So, try and will be ok
I wanna be here again

They cut all FAA holders with low time(you are unable to pass ATP written without 1500 hours and atp ctp course).

I received an email to attend a selection in HKG on the 8th and 9th May. Has anybody else heard anything for these dates. I confirmed my attendance but have not heard anymore about getting to from HKG.

There seems to be a lot of horror stories on this about the SO process and how you get treated. Is it really that bad and can anybody give good feedback to say if it is worth while. Thanks

Get those ‘hospital corners’ right and you’ll be just fine.
