CX Pre-Qualified Cadets
G'day guys,
I've recently heard from one of my mates in CX that they're gonna launch their first pre-qualified batch of cadets later this year. It is designed for CPL holders or above, and only consists of the last 2 modules of the conventional CPP. Anyone heard anything about it as well?
IMHO, this is a really WISE move for CX. As this not only helps them a lot in terms of COST SAVINGS, but also doesn't waste my TIME.
Cheers,
WesB777.

I heard of CPL+Multi IFR will get you a Second Officer position in Dragon Air (Own by CX) not so long before!
This is great news if they have this program.
However, I don't think any airline is offering this program before?! (correct me if i'm wrong)
Their requirement are mostly ZERO experience and PPL/Below
If this program do offer, I believe it will offer to the locals ONLY

Hey 7500_7700,
Yes, you're absolutely correct. In fact, it was KA that introduced the Pre-Qualified Cadets Programme. Their requirement was CPL + CIR-ME + Total 250 hours. Unfortunately such an ab-initio DE S/O deal no longer exists in KA. Whatsmore, even the intake for normal CPP has stopped, which is reasonable as KA is a bit over-manpowered at present according to my KA pilot friend...Anyway, I think such deal will prove attractive towards the vast majority of keen aviators with limited flying experience. Needless to say, we're all aware of the benefits it can bring to both the airline and the pilots. Let's hope more carriers adopt this programme.
Well, I'm not sure if it is only available to HKG locals...however, with the recent switch in the normal CPP, I kinda get the drift that CX is leaned towards foreign pilots (as always)...
Cheers,
WesB777.

and... I'm wondering foreign pilots are more likely to concern their benefit and salary whether they are reasonable than locals, and they claimed for loss if necessary just like news a few days ago.

This program is unlikely to happen this year
I just can't see why they need more pilots right now.
If you've been HKG recently, you'll see CX aircraftsssssssss are collecting dust.
It's a good news for North American low time pilots (Canada and US AND A)
Because our salary is less than Third world country pilots....WT

Yo sugizo20,
I guess for every decision made, there are both pros and cons...in this case the up side would be the guaranteed English proficiency...
Whatever they decide to do, they’ll just have to live with the consequences followed.
Cheers,
WesB777.

Hey 7500_7700,
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. That's what I always do.
It's crystal clear that the global recession thing has MESSED the aviation industry, if not the whole world, UP. Tough time for everyone, no doubt about that. Not just CX, I heard BA is gonna ground like 16 planes in the near future.
CX planes are collecting dust at HKIA? Are you sure? I'm currently grounded in HKG but I don't think those at HKIA are after dust. Pax and freights are what they're mainly carrying I reckon. Actually, the ones that are not being used atm are sitting in the deserts, they’re totally PACKED, especially with those B747 freighters. You can have a look at them on A net. There're also planes from KA, SQ, O8, CA, EVA...and many more.
Btw, sorry mate it should be "aircraft", no "sssssssss". "aeroplane" or "plane" have "sssssssss", but not for aircraft.
Cheers,
WesB777.

I wonder how will expat cadets feel like in 10 years, wife, 2.5 kids, earning fo salary and no schooling, no housing.... But then again you can always leave after you get some experience.

flyguymy,
I like your attitude, very positive and optimistic. But, lets be realistic, do you really think you will be happy working for a company where a guy sitting next to you is doing the same job but earning more than twice as much as you?
I'd say there is a good chance that a large number of these new generation global cadets will do their 5 years in the company, get the ****s and then leave...time will tell.
Good luck anyway!!!

Short Course
As I understand it, the 'short course' that has been mentioned is still to be approved by HKCAD and it is some way off starting.
With this in mind, is one to assume that current pre-qualified applicants are being considered for the full 15 month course?
Anyone know when the 'shortened course' is likely to be kicked off?
Cheers.
