Hi Guys,
does anyone one here have/had an Initial Interview for Advanced Entry?
Is the compass test done in the first interview or is it just a 'Reasoning Test' as stated by Cathay.

I am actually from Griffith University in Brisbane doing the Aviation degree and I'm coming into my second year. During the Australian summer break, I flew back to Hong Kong (as a Permanent HKID holder) to apply for CX.
I finished Stage 1B on 09 Jan and have been confirmed for Stage 2. I'm just waiting on a time slot now, which should be in March.
The partnership seems non-existent (from a student's standpoint), but there is a Ex-Cathay Senior Training Captain there who does some pretty neat things and he has some great preparation resources for CX. But that's about it, I don't see any actual workings going on. I agree with Cpt. Underpants, there's no "top students would may be provided a visa and sent off as a cadet", nothing such exists now at-least. It may just be a selling point.
The University has since changed their degree from a 4 year to a 3 year degree, I'm still in the 4 year one unfortunately. It consists of studying aviation subjects for 2 years before we take a "break" to complete our flight training at selected Australian flight training institutes, whereafter we would return to the University to complete our last year. However, they have a trend with crediting that last year to their students and graduating them if they are accepted into a cadetship program or have an equivalent of at-least 120 credit points (completed 12 degree-required subjects). That's what I am aiming for. I was both lucky enough to have a summer break to apply for Cathay, but I was unfortunate in the sense that I would graduate at the same time as someone who would be starting this year.
For future reference, those who wish to undertake Griffith's Bachelor of Aviation Program, it would be difficult to allow time to apply to Cathay since the process does take a while (6 months is the general consensus?) and it requires you to be in Hong Kong unless you are fortunate enough to fly multiple times back and from Brisbane on short notice. The refurbished program implements holiday study semesters, which students would need to study for and complete exams within the holidays. There would generally not be adequate time to study and prepare in-between interviews if one should apply for CX whilst in this program.

A330 or 777 at CX?
After you finish your cadet training, will you be selected on an aircraft randomly? Or do you have a choice, and does anyone know if Cathay allows pilots to transfer from A330 to 777?

SO demand in the future for CX?
Does anyone know if their will be an increase of demand for SO or a decrease in the upcoming years? Also, once you finish training, do you choose the aircraft you fly on or is CX that decides? And can freighter be an option as well? Thanks

Hey guys, I am a HK/US citizen, graduating from a university in the US on March and I would like to seek for some advises! I am quite determined to apply for the cadet program, however I have only done some ground school with no actual flight experience. (My parents already paid for my BS/MS degree and I don't want to burn any additional money from them to get myself a PPL.)
Since I am already here in the US, do you guys think that it is advisable to remain in the US, get a job and finance myself through a PPL, then apply for the CPP? I am already a little bit old (mid-24) so I am not sure if I should wait any further to apply. Does Cathay require candidates to stay in HK throughout the interviewing process? In the sense that, do I get like 2-3 weeks of advance notice before the interview such that I may arrange to take some days off from work and fly back to HK? I am not exactly sure if my plan will work. For those of you who are living aboard, what is your experience with Cathay's interviewing schedule?

Hong Kong Permanent Resident Id Card
Hello Everyone im new to this community here and was wondering if you could answer a question that was rattling through my head
I was looking at applying for CX Second Officer Cadetship and noticed you need to have a permanent hong kong id card. does CX disregard applicants without it? How could i obtain one? Is it possible for me to obtain one?

Cathay won't consider you for the cadet program unless you have a HK permanent ID. You need to live in Hong Kong for seven years before you can get a permanent ID, so your only options are to join either an AE or TT course.

I'm not overly confident as I'm a couple hours short on night and don't yet an have Instrument Rating (which I didn't think was a pre-requisite for the AE course). I previously sat Stage 1 a couple of years back.
Are all interviews done in HK, or will the initial still be in your home country? If HK, do they cover the cost of getting over there? All ambitious questions.
One thing that I can't seem to find in here (Current info, anyway), is the outline of the new package, renumeration etc. I've just read the usual slandering of it, but no actual figures of salary etc. Does anyone have this?
